Trindade is the only section of Serra da Bocaina National Park with marine attractions. Coves, trails in the national park and a lively tradition give the place different facets. If you are considering whether Trindade is right for your trip, you can take nature experiences and cultural interests into account when making your decision. The landscape can be seen at specific places such as Praia do Meio and the Piscina Natural; a hiking trail, a seasonal surfing opportunity and a regular bus service provide additional orientation.

Coves and the Piscina Natural

Praia do Meio consists of two small coves into which a small river flows. This is a distinctive landscape feature that sets the beach apart from a single, uniformly described stretch of coastline. Those interested in coastal destinations can experience coves and a river mouth here as part of the local scenery.

The Piscina Natural is surrounded by rocks and has shallow, clear water. Together with Praia do Meio, it offers a different natural setting: here, the rocks and water of the natural pool landscape take centre stage, while there it is the two coves and the river. These differences can help you choose places based on the landscapes that interest you most on your trip.

Trails and activities

In Serra da Bocaina National Park in Trindade, a 400-metre hiking trail runs from Praia do Meio to Praia do Caixa d'Aço. You can include this specific trail distance in your daily plans. Praia do Caixa d'Aço is suitable for surfing at certain times of the year. So if surfing is part of your travel plans, the timing of your stay also matters.

You can reach the Piscina Natural by hiking from Praia do Caixa d'Aço or by boat from Praia do Meio. These are two different ways to get to this natural attraction; the hiking trail from Praia do Meio to Praia do Caixa d'Aço is a separate, specifically described route. Considering these destinations together can help you distinguish clearly between the route connecting the two beaches and the access routes to the Piscina Natural when planning your visit.

Getting to Trindade

From Paraty, you can reach Trindade via the BR 101 (Rio-Santos) highway towards Ubatuba, as far as the Patrimônio turnoff, 16 km away. From there, an approximately 6 km paved road leads to the village of Trindade. For the road journey, you can consider these two sections separately: the route to the turnoff and the road that continues to the village. A regular bus service also operates between Paraty and Trindade. This means a bus connection between the two places is also an option for planning your journey.

A community tradition

Trindade has its own cultural facet, too: Folia de Reis is traditionally celebrated in the community every year on December 26 and January 6. The birth of Christ is announced from house to house through music. This custom offers a different focus from the coastline and trails in the national park. If you would like to consider local traditions as well as nature when choosing a holiday destination, this celebration is part of Trindade’s cultural life.

For your stay, you can consider an apartment or holiday home in Trindade.
