In Paracambi, the history of the textile industry meets experiences in nature. A visit can take you from the former factory and historic sites to hiking trails, a waterfall, and walks in green surroundings. This lets you decide whether you would especially like to explore cultural history or spend time outdoors during your trip.

From Textile Factory to Education Center

Companhia Têxtil Brasil Industrial was established in 1871 and equipped with 400 looms when it opened. The former factory now serves as Fábrica do Conhecimento, an education center in Paracambi offering technical, university, and arts courses. Its transition from industrial use to an education center makes this site a distinctive gateway to the city’s history.

If you would like to learn more about Paracambi’s development, you can plan a visit to the Roteiro Histórico (Historical Tour). It lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes and takes in places visited by Emperor D. Pedro, the historic railway station, and historic sites in the city center. The tour explores the history of the Coffee Valley and the textile industry and ends at Fábrica Brasil Industrial. A tourism guide is recommended. Paracambi station, then called Estação de Macacos, opened in 1861 for freight and passenger traffic.

Other historic landmarks include Igreja Matriz São Pedro e São Paulo, completed in 1948, and Marco Zero, a monument commemorating Paracambi’s founding that is now in ruins. Together, these sites tell different chapters of the city’s history. The Festa de São Pedro e São Paulo is also part of local tradition: this cultural and religious festival honors Paracambi’s patron saints. Its 98th edition was scheduled for June 26 to 29, 2026.

Hiking Trails and a Waterfall

For nature experiences, Parque Natural Municipal do Curió is a key place to visit. It covers 913 hectares, is classified under SNUC as a fully protected area, and lies in the central zone of the Tinguá–Bocaina Biodiversity Corridor. Its size and protected-area classification give the park a distinct significance alongside Paracambi’s historic attractions.

The park includes, among others, the 938-meter-long Trilha do Jequitibá Rosa and the 1,634-meter-long Trilha Cachoeira dos Namorados, which leads to a waterfall. The stated trail lengths offer a concrete guide for planning your day, without in themselves indicating how long the hikes take or how difficult they are. The park reopened to visitors in June 2025; at the time, guided hikes and an accessible trail for children were planned.

Another natural attraction is Cachoeira da Cascata: the waterfall is 50 meters high and is located in Paracambi’s neighborhood of the same name. Pedra do Gavião is also among the city’s major tourist attractions.

Enjoy the Outdoors

Bosque da Fábrica is used for walks, picnics, and outdoor cultural events. An accessible path runs along the main trail. For travelers looking to include a walk or picnic in their time in Paracambi, the Bosque is another option alongside the nature park’s hiking trails.

You can weigh the different options according to your interests: a stay focused more on cultural history can center on the tour, Fábrica do Conhecimento, and the historic sites; if you prefer outdoor activities, you can explore the nature park, Bosque da Fábrica, and the waterfalls. When looking for a vacation rental in Paracambi, you can start by asking yourself which experiences matter most for your trip.
