As a destination, Arapoti brings together a range of interests: Dutch immigration history, rural technology, historic trails, and landscapes featuring waterfalls and canyons. This is a good starting point for planning your vacation: would you like your trip to focus more on cultural history, hiking, or scenery?

Collections on Arapoti’s History

The Museu do Trator is located on a rural property, next to the Deen family’s shed. Its collection includes more than 50 items: tools from the pre-tractor era, early motorized machines, and tractors used by Dutch settlers since their arrival in Arapoti. The property also features a typical Dutch house with furnishings and objects preserved there. The collection therefore covers everything from agricultural technology to furnishings and everyday objects.

Dutch culture is also the focus of Casa dos Kok, also known as Museu da Imigração Holandesa. Its architecture, furnishings, clothing, and typical culinary items convey this theme. The Museu da Colonização Holandesa explores the history of Dutch immigration to the municipality. Casa do Lembrador offers another perspective: its collection includes photographs, documents, and objects relating to the municipality’s history. It was assembled from donations by Arapoti’s pioneer families and includes items from earlier scouting groups and from expedition participants from the region who fought in the Second World War. Immigration and local history thus meet in personal keepsakes.

The railway is also part of the town’s history. The former Cachoeirinha station is now home to Memorial Capão Bonito – Casa da Cultura. The Casa da Cultura - Estação Ferroviária collection includes paintings, sculptures, photographs, documents, and railway objects, including headlights from a “Maria Fumaça” steam locomotive and a telegraph. These objects add a technical dimension to the cultural offerings.

Historic Trails and Landscapes

The themed trails each have a distinct focus. The Trilha da Colonização passes museums, churches, and dining spots. The Trilha do Monge João Maria includes historic churches and sacred sites in nature. The Trilha do Mel focuses on routes connected with honey production. When choosing, this means one route combines culture and gastronomy, while the others draw attention to religious sites or honey production.

Those looking for scenery can find waterfalls and canyons, such as Cânion do Cerrado, within the municipality. Excursions and hikes are offered at the canyon. Different interests are therefore catered to: historic collections and themed trails on the one hand, and scenery and hiking opportunities on the other. You can weigh up which of these you would like to shape your stay as you plan your trip.

Fazenda Boa Vista and Getting There

Fazenda Boa Vista is located near the destination. It is privately owned and belongs to Morro Chato Agropecuária Ltda. Under an agreement signed with the Ministério Público in October 2018, the company fully restored the manor house, chapel, and cemetery, investing more than R$2.5 million. Ruins more than 150 years old have also been preserved on the Fazenda. The property adds a historical point of interest in the surrounding area to the municipality’s cultural offerings.

When looking for a vacation rental in Arapoti, you can start by considering whether cultural history, trails, or landscapes matter most for your stay. Getting there is also a practical planning consideration: Arapoti can only be reached by road; access to the municipality is via PR-092 and PR-239. Check road conditions before setting out, as they may change.
