Waterfalls, caves in sandstone and insights into cocoa cultivation give Medicilândia a varied character. Located alongside the BR-230, the Rodovia Transamazônica, the town is a destination for travellers who want to combine nature experiences with discovering regional chocolate. The excursion destinations are quite different: some lead to the water, others to rock formations, caves or cocoa plantations.

Waterfalls and swimming spots

Balneário Cachoeira Encanto do Norte is regularly visited, especially at weekends. This destination includes a waterfall about 7 m high, a natural pool below it approximately 6 m deep, and a beach area. If you want to see different types of waterfall, Cachoeiras do KM 100 Sul has two waterfalls. Cachoeiras do KM 100 Sul 2 also consists of two waterfalls; here, the falls, about 4 m high, form a cascade. The access road runs between cocoa plantations.

Other destinations focus on spending time by the water: Balneário Pimenta welcomes numerous visitors at weekends. Balneário Pingo D’Água is suitable for swimming and is visited every weekend. Cachoeira da Dona Maria is also used at weekends, by local residents and neighbours. It is open to visitors and also has a sandstone cave. When choosing an excursion, you can therefore choose between swimming spots and places where waterfalls and rocky spaces come together.

Sandstone, caves and trails through the forest

Cachoeira do KM 120 Sul is located in an area of completely preserved forest. There are three waterfalls along the access route; the trail within the private property is about 2 km long. At Cachoeira Kinkas Marcelino, a path with several downhill sections leads through preserved forest. The destination is suitable for geotourism and adventure tourism, as well as extreme sports such as abseiling.

Paredão e Caverna Travessão KM 85 Sul is approximately 800 m long and about 30 m high. The area can be used for nature tourism, ecotourism, geotourism and abseiling; visitors must be accompanied by a guide. Caverna do Limoeiro extends underground through the sandstone, and its chambers feature diverse stalactite and stalagmite formations. Access involves a 7 km route, most of which is covered by four-wheel-drive vehicle. This is followed by a walk of about 300 m through the forest.

Sumaúma at Sítio Três Irmãs is also a striking natural landmark: it is approximately 60 m high and about 17 m in diameter. Together with the waterfalls and sandstone caves, it shows the variety of nature destinations in Medicilândia. If you are travelling with children, different interests may influence your choice—for example, swimming, forest trails or geological features. The access conditions described can help you choose excursions that suit your planned activities.

Cocoa and regional chocolate

Sítio Ascurra adds another dimension to the destination. Guided tours of the cocoa plantations and the process of making artisan chocolate are offered there. Visitors are also offered meals made with fresh local ingredients. For travellers who want to learn about the processing of a regional product as well as enjoy nature, this visit adds a different theme to the range of options.

When choosing a holiday rental in Medicilândia, you can consider which excursions matter most during your stay: swimming spots, caves and rock formations, trails through the forest, or an insight into chocolate making. The destinations cater to different interests; they do not form a single route. This lets you decide what to focus on during your trip before choosing accommodation for your stay.
