Ezpeleta can be explored through its cultural gathering places and squares: the Feria Tinkunaku, traditional centres such as Rinconada Pampa, and the renovated Plaza San Martín showcase different facets of the town. When choosing your holiday rental, it is also useful to consider where places are in Ezpeleta: the Feria is in the west, while Plaza San Martín is in the east, by the railway station.

Traditions and Criollo Culture

Rinconada Pampa is a traditional centre in Ezpeleta. Together with other traditional centres in Quilmes, it helps promote Criollo dances, customs, poetry and music. The centres hold their own festivals and cultural gatherings, and run workshops in various areas of Criollo culture. These include weaving and rope-making, silversmithing and saddlery, as well as payada singing, folk dance and the history of this culture. If you want to get to know Ezpeleta not only through individual squares but also through living traditions, this is a distinctive cultural hub.

Another point of interest is the Feria Tinkunaku in Ezpeleta Oeste. It was founded in 1996 by Bolivian migrants and occupies an entire block along Avenida Florencio Varela. It is located between Mar del Plata and Bahía Blanca streets. The Feria is therefore a clearly defined part of the townscape, with a focus distinct from that of the traditional centres, whose themes range from music and poetry to crafts and dance.

Alasita and Miniatures

The traditional Feria de Alasitas has been held at the Feria Tinkunaku site since 2022. It is part of the Alasita celebration, which includes a traditional Feria de la Alasita of the Latin American Altiplano. Its hallmark is the sale of miniatures, including houses and cars as well as money, travel suitcases and study certificates. The third edition in Quilmes followed earlier editions in 2020 and 2022. These small objects give the celebration a character of its own and distinguish it from the music, dance and craft themes of the traditional centres.

Squares and Music in Ezpeleta

Plaza San Martín in eastern Ezpeleta has been renovated and substantially improved. It covers 9,700 m² and has twelve new pieces of playground equipment. It is also a prominent landmark by Ezpeleta railway station; a Roca Line station is next to it. If you are considering a railway station as a reference point when choosing where to stay, you can compare this location with that of the Feria in Ezpeleta Oeste, without treating the two destinations as part of the same neighbourhood.

Plaza 25 de Mayo is also part of the town’s history: the founding marker of Ezpeleta stands there. For a stay that combines traditions, local history and squares, there are several distinct points of interest. The Programa de Coros y Orquestas Infanto Juveniles is also present in Ezpeleta. Its ensembles are for participants aged 6 to 18 and meet regularly during the school year. Alongside Criollo traditions, community choral and orchestral music is also part of the town’s cultural offering.

When looking for a holiday rental, consider which of these local points of interest matter for your stay: the Feria and its miniatures, the Criollo culture of the traditional centres, or the squares and their different locations. If you would like to explore other places, you can also find Villa La Florida at the same level.
