Berazategui
Accommodation in Berazategui
Berazategui brings together unusual glass art, local history, green spaces and cultural events. When planning a trip, you can choose different areas of interest: the Museo del Vidrio explores glass and the history of Cristalerías Rigolleau; other collections tell the story of the development of the Partido de Berazategui; and Parque Municipal de la Familia y los Animales offers recreational areas with native plants, a sundial and a playground.
Glass Art and Cultural Life
The Museo del Vidrio (MuVi) is considered unique of its kind in Argentina. Its collection brings together different perspectives on glass: the ground floor displays pieces donated by, among others, Ivonne Necol de Rigolleau, Cristalerías Rigolleau, Sara Shaw, the Berdyszak family, local residents, and national and international artists. The museum also has an extensive collection of contemporary glass art by artists from Argentina and abroad.
A historical tour at the MuVi focuses on Cristalerías Rigolleau and its mostly immigrant workforce. Alongside the glassworks, it highlights the factory’s history and the people who worked there. The Centro Cultural Municipal León F. Rigolleau complements this cultural perspective with municipal schools for ceramics, photography and music. It is housed in a building that Ivonne Necol, the wife of the founder of Cristalerías Rigolleau, donated to the municipal government of Berazategui.
Local History in Houses and Collections
The Museo Municipal Histórico preserves collections on the social, economic and cultural development of the Partido de Berazategui. It is located in the historic San Francisco district, in the former home and general store of the Traverso family. The house museum features worn pine floors and a period kitchen; details like these give local history a tangible setting. Group visits require advance reservations via WhatsApp.
The Complejo Municipal San Francisco also tells the story of the area. The restored complex includes a residence, a general store, a spacious barrack, a stable and outbuildings, all linked by a large park. As an example of Italianate service architecture, it is also associated with immigrant families. The exhibition area contains an enclosed gallery and testimonial objects relating to the educational, social and cultural development of the Partido de Berazategui.
Sport is another area of focus: the Museo del Golf Roberto De Vicenzo uses objects, photographs and awards to show family, social and sporting aspects of the golfer’s life. When planning a trip around your interests, you can choose how much time to devote to glass art, local history, architecture and sports history, rather than trying to cover every cultural theme in a single visit.
Green Spaces and Events
Native plant species grow in Parque Municipal de la Familia y los Animales; its recreational areas include a sundial and a children’s playground. Visitors may bring their pets, provided they wear a leash, collar and identification tag. The wider travel area also includes Parque Pereyra Iraola: this 10,248-hectare green space covers the Partido de Berazategui and has significant natural, historical and cultural heritage.
The Centro de Actividades Roberto De Vicenzo is an important venue for events. It serves as an exhibition center and an air-conditioned mini-stadium with 4,000 seats. The annual Feria Nacional Berazategui Artesanías takes place there, bringing together more than 500 craftspeople. Bera Rock, a recurring rock festival, is also held at the venue. The fair and festival represent different types of events; check their specific dates separately.
When choosing a holiday rental in Berazategui, it helps to decide in advance what you want to focus on during your trip: glass art and culture, historical collections, green spaces or events. These interests can guide your choice of area without limiting you to just one theme.
