Discover Puente Nacional
Accommodation in Puente Nacional
Puente Nacional can be explored through a range of experiences: swimming facilities with several pools, historic sites and specialties from the municipality. When looking for a holiday rental in Puente Nacional, you can consider whether water activities, historic attractions or regional cuisine will be the focus of your stay. Each theme offers its own perspective and different ways to get to know the town and its municipality.
Swimming facilities with different pools
The Day Pass at Hotel Puente Nacional includes access to the facilities, a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a paddling pool and a spring-fed pit for jumping. If swimming and pools are a particular priority when planning your trip, these specific features can help you weigh up your options according to your interests.
Balneario Puente Nacional also has a swimming pool, as well as a children’s pool and changing rooms. The facilities are surrounded by green spaces, palm trees and regional trees, and are located in a tropical climate. Unlike the features mentioned for the Day Pass, changing rooms and the setting described here are also central to the facilities. When choosing your outings, you can therefore distinguish between these features and decide which are of particular interest for your stay, without treating the two offerings as identical.
Historic sites and architectural history
Notable historic sites in Puente Nacional include Puente del Camino Real, Atalaya de la Concepción and Caballerizas de Santa Anna. These three names offer a point of reference for visitors who wish to include historic sites in their exploration of the destination. A specific construction history is also recorded for Puente del Rey: it was built in the early 19th century by Diego García Conde to plans by Manuel Tolsá. This connects a historic site with the names of its builder and designer.
Hacienda de Santa Anna is also part of the municipality’s history: it was one of the three famous haciendas owned by General Antonio López de Santa Anna. Together with the historic sites mentioned above, this offers another way to explore Puente Nacional’s past. If culture and history are of particular interest on your trip, you can focus on these sites and the construction history of Puente del Rey.
Local specialties
The culinary specialties of the Municipality of Puente Nacional include tamales de pipían. To prepare them, cooked corn dough is combined with pipían made with green beans, chayote, ancho or chipotle chili, garlic, cloves, epazote or acuyo, and salt.
Another specialty of the municipality is tlatonile. It is made with beef or pork, peanuts or sesame seeds, tomato sauce, ancho chili, garlic, green beans, chayote, zucchini, peas, and epazote or acuyo. Unlike tamales de pipían, it explicitly includes meat and tomato sauce; cooked corn dough is the starting point for the tamales. If you are interested in regional cuisine, you can discover these two different local specialties and compare their listed ingredients.
A festive day in the annual calendar
On December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception is celebrated in the Municipality of Puente Nacional with religious celebrations, religious ceremonies and floral offerings. This date complements visits to historic sites and interest in regional cuisine with a religious festival.
