Sinaloa: Beaches, Culture and Sierra Landscapes

Sinaloa offers a wide variety of travel experiences: beaches, water sports and Sierra landscapes sit alongside archaeological traces, historic places and cultural traditions. Beaches, Water and Views

The beaches of Mazatlán stretch for 20 kilometers and are ideal for walking, watching sunsets and enjoying various water sports. The 7-kilometer Malecón offers another point of reference. Its sections include La Puntilla, El Faro, Paseo del Centenario, Paseo Olas Altas, Paseo Claussen, as well as Avenida del Mar, also known as Playa Norte. A climb to El Faro leads to expansive views from above: the lighthouse stands 157 meters above sea level. The archaeological site of Las Labradas lies on the beach. More than 700 rock engravings depict people, animals, plants and geometric figures. The site thus brings together a specific archaeological discovery and a beach landscape. San Ignacio is Sinaloa’s fifth Pueblo Mágico. El Fuerte is also a Pueblo Mágico in the state and is associated with colonial architecture, history and Indigenous traditions.

In El Rosario, the Laguna del Iguanero and its suspension bridge are among the visitor attractions. Tourists also visit the Parroquia de la Virgen del Rosario; the Museo de Lola Beltrán is another attraction. San Miguel Zapotitlán, in the Municipality of Ahome, is home to a historic Yoreme-Mayo community with a rich cultural heritage. The town is also a ceremonial center. Traditional rituals take place in the Yoreme church, particularly during Lent and Holy Week.

Another travel experience begins in El Fuerte: the Chepe Express departs from there and crosses mountains, tunnels, bridges and deep canyons on its way to the Sierra Tarahumara. These places offer different highlights—from architecture and tradition to nature and archaeological traces, as well as a train journey through striking landscapes.
