The new Västra Torsås Church stands on a hill in the centre of the small village of Lönashult. When planning your trip, you can also consider a range of nature and water experiences: Trollberget is an entrance to Åsnen National Park, while Övden bathing area is on the shore of Lake Övden. The village centre, forest trails and bathing area each offer a distinct focus. When planning your stay, it helps to think of cultural connections to the village, nature trails and time by the water as separate interests.

The church in the centre of Lönashult

Västra Torsås Church is on the road between Torne and Hulevik. Its position on a hill in the village centre makes it a distinct cultural landmark; the named road adds a precise sense of location. For travellers who want to consider the village itself as well as nature, the church offers a separate point of interest. This sets it apart from the trails through forests and peatlands, which offer a different focus.

Trollberget: National park entrance and forest landscape

The Trollberget entrance is on the western side of Lake Åsnen and leads into Åsnen National Park. Trollberget itself is in the beech forest on the lakeshore; the area features caves and passages. This brings together forest and lakeside scenery with these distinctive formations. The entrance has parking, toilets, fire pits and information about the national park. Details about the landscape and facilities provide practical guidance for a nature outing.

Two trails of different lengths

Trollsvansen is 300 metres long and leads from the car park to the Trollberget entrance area. Skogsslingan is 2.2 kilometres long, passes through several types of forest and partly follows boardwalks through peatlands. The two trails have different profiles: a short route to the entrance area and a longer trail through different types of forest and peatlands. If you are looking for a short walk to the entrance, Trollsvansen is the option described here; Skogsslingan offers a different focus, with its greater length and boardwalks.

Övden bathing area and the drive from Vislanda

Övden bathing area is on the shore of Lake Övden. Its shallow, sandy water is suitable for small children, making it a specific water-based option for families. Unlike the forest trails at Trollberget, this is a bathing area rather than a trail through different types of forest and peatlands.

From Vislanda, take road 126 south towards Karlshamn. 1.5 kilometres after Lönashult, turn right at the bathing sign and follow the gravel road. Keep left to reach Övden bathing area. You can plan the drive using the named road, the bathing sign and the turn-off.

Puttetorpa Here statue is also nearby, on the road between Torsåsby and Lönashult. It adds another cultural landmark alongside the church.

Choose the right focus for your holiday rental

When looking for a holiday rental, it is worth first deciding what you want to focus on during your trip: the village centre, a nature trail or time by the water. The trails at Trollberget vary in length and scenery, while the shallow water at Övden offers a specific point of reference for families with small children. Choose the location of your accommodation to suit what you want to make the focus of your stay.
