San Isidro was established in the mid-20th century as a colonization settlement within the municipality of Albatera. The parish church of San Isidro Labrador dates from 1956 and is a building in the modernist style. The church was designed by the architect José Luis Fernández del Amo.

History and Culture
A traditional Romería takes place on the first Sunday in May. Residents gather to eat and dance, while dance groups put on a performance. El Santo is a mosaic monument by Manuel Baeza depicting the patron saint San Isidro. Next to El Santo, an agricultural artwork shows irrigated plots supplied with water through a centralized well system.
The Campo de Albatera is now located within the municipality of San Isidro. Cabezo Pardo contains an Argaric settlement dating approximately from 1900 to 1500 BC. There is also a settlement from the Emirate period of the 8th to 9th centuries AD. Based on the archaeological materials found there, the site has been identified with Tall al-Jattab, mentioned by the geographer al-ʿUdri.
Ceramic, stone and malacological objects were recovered during archaeological excavations at the site. Today, they belong to the Siret Collection at the Museo Arqueológico Nacional in Madrid.
Cycling and Hiking
The circular El Hondo-San Isidro cycling route is 13 kilometers long. It runs along rural paths and passes huertas, traditional urban and rural buildings, former hemp retting ponds, natural water outflows and palm groves.
The route runs through flat terrain, is signposted in both directions and is suitable for most people. Its starting point is the railway footbridge. From there, visitors can freely explore San Isidro, the town park, the town hall square, the church or the schools with their distinctive sculptures, and then cross part of the traditional huerta.
The Senda del Poeta Miguel Hernández hiking route passes through San Isidro. It is a three-day hiking route of approximately 70 kilometers running from Orihuela to Alicante. The Monolito Senda del Poeta was inaugurated on April 16, 2005. The different route lengths and time estimates provide a clear basis for comparing cycling and hiking days.

Getting There
ALBATERA-CATRAL station is located within the municipality of San Isidro and 100 meters from the center of San Isidro; in the Cercanías network, it connects Alicante and Murcia.
A memorial monument to the victims of the Campo de Albatera stands near San Isidro station, a few meters from the railway tracks.
