The Moros y Cristianos festivities in Elda have been designated Events of International Tourist Interest and have been celebrated since the beginning of the 19th century. The city combines this vibrant festival tradition with archaeological remains, museums, historic sites and routes through the surrounding area.

Culture and History
A mural currently displayed at Elda Town Hall comes from Calle de la Purísima 31. El Monastil tells a particularly long history: settlement there extends from the Bell Beaker culture to the Almohad period of the 13th century, with notable developments during the Iberian and Roman periods. El Monastil is a protected archaeological site designated as a Bien de Interés Cultural in the Sierra de la Torreta beside the Vinalopó River.
The MAE – Museo Arqueológico de Elda displays a prehistoric child burial discovered on Monte Bolón. The Museo del Calzado focuses on a different aspect of culture. It preserves the origins and history of footwear in Elda, as well as the craftsmanship of shoemakers and shoe upper makers. The collection includes original footwear dating from the 14th century to the present day.
The surrounding area of Elda is also home to several places with historical and cultural connections: the Triquiñuela de artes y letras museum, the Museo Del Calzado, Petrer Castle and the historic site of Castillo del Conde de Elda. This selection is complemented by Plaza Castelar Garden and Musica Garden, which are also located in the surrounding area of Elda.
Cuisine
The “Sabor a Elda” gastronomic events present tapas, dishes and menus inspired by traditional recipes. This culinary event is a separate way of experiencing the city alongside its festivals, archaeological sites and museums. When planning a trip, these different focuses can be combined according to personal interests, without this having to result in a single, fixed itinerary.
Landscapes and Routes
The Vía Augusta in Elda is a 3.8-kilometre hiking and cycling route. Elda also has many other hiking and cycling trails, including routes to the El Pantano area. This provides different types of routes for navigating between a clearly signposted trail and the other paths, which can be considered independently of one another.
The summit of Cilla del Sit and the Serra del Sit mountain are located in the area surrounding Elda. Both names complement the archaeological and cultural sites with landscape destinations farther from the city.
For travel planning, Elda can be considered a destination with cultural, culinary and landscape highlights.
