La Resbala in Tenerife: Culture, Nature and Sport

In La Resbala, the upper protected section of El Barranco de Acentejo extends as far as Camino de San Juan. On Tenerife, the ravine is protected in the municipalities of La Matanza de Acentejo and La Victoria de Acentejo as an Asset of Cultural Interest in the category of Historic Site.

The places described highlight different aspects of La Resbala: El Calvario and the two Casas point to historical and architectural aspects, while the Complejo Deportivo brings together specific sports, aquatic and rehabilitation services. El Montillo combines a protected beetle subspecies, Fayal-Brezal woodland, ecological, historical and ethnographic interpretation, as well as planned paths and recreational areas. The Mercadillo adds viticulture, chestnut cultivation, gastronomy and handicrafts to these themes.

For planning purposes, the areas mentioned can be distinguished by their character: the Complejo Deportivo brings together padel courts, pools of different sizes, fitness and rehabilitation services; El Montillo represents open space, woodland, protected nature and planned paths; and the Mercadillo stands for tastings, workshops and cultural activities. This clearly sets the focal points of culture, exercise, landscape and local events alongside one another.

El Calvario, built in 1954, is located at the beginning of the route near La Resbala. The Casa de D. Miguel y Familia Febles Oliva is considered an example of traditional Canarian architecture. The Casa de Doña Sixta has a traditional wine press and a covered cistern.

The Zona Recreativa El Pirul is a public, free recreational area with parking spaces, tables and seating.

The Mercadillo del Agricultor, la Artesanía y el Vino is the setting for fairs and events dedicated to viticulture, chestnut cultivation, local gastronomy and handicrafts. At the event, local wines and tapas from local businesses are sampled. The event includes tastings, workshops and cultural activities.
