Plaza de España in Los Llanos de Aridane still follows the structure of the Indian laurel trees planted in 1863; it was designed in 1922 by the architect Pelayo López and Martín Romero.
For planning your own trip, the sights can be grouped into culture, coast, nature and winegrowing.
Culture and History
In the centre of Plaza Elías Santos Abreu stands a stone water basin made in 1870, financed through contributions from local residents and the municipality.
The Museo Arqueológico Benahorita is located in the town centre of the municipality. Through various displays, it presents the Benahoaritas’ habitat, economic activities, use of the environment and magical-religious beliefs.
The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios houses a 16th-century statue of the Virgin Mary.
An initial collection comprised 25 murals measuring up to 140 square metres; they were installed on the windowless walls of several buildings in the urban area.
Coast and Sea
Puerto Naos beach is accessible by car and offers parasol and sun lounger hire, toilets, showers, litter bins, a cleaning service, telephone service and a sports area.
Puerto Naos has coastal markers and lighting along a length of 200 metres; the bathing boundary is located 70 metres from the shore.
Charco Verde is a bay surrounded by cliffs and banana plantations, with calm waters.
Charco Verde is equipped with ramps and walkways for people with reduced mobility and for pushchairs.
Nature and Hiking
On La Palma, the Paisaje Protegido del Barranco de Las Angustias extends across four municipalities: El Paso, Tijarafe, Los Llanos de Aridane and Tazacorte.
In the Paisaje Protegido del Barranco de Las Angustias, the ravine begins at Dos Aguas, where the Caldera’s permanently flowing streams converge; the surroundings are suitable for hiking.
Impressive, steeply sloping walls covered with vegetation characterise the Paisaje Protegido del Barranco de Las Angustias.
