Binissafúller – Coast, Culture and Holiday Apartment
Accommodation in Binissafuller
For visitors, Binissafúller begins at a small cove: Cala Binissafúller lies next to the settlement and measures 55 m in length and 30 m in width.
Coast and trails
The water in the cove is clear and shallow; beneath it are sand and Posidonia seagrass meadows. The swimming area, marked off with buoys, is suitable for water sports such as stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking. Illot de Binissafúller is visible from the shoreline of Cala Binissafúller.
On stage 18 of the Camí de Cavalls, the route from Binissafúller to Punta Prima covers just over 8 km. Hikers use a footpath as well as a 523 m-long section shared with cyclists before the route descends to Platja Binissafúller. Stage 17 of the Camí de Cavalls ends in Binissafúller at the beginning of Avenida Platja Binissafúller.
The section of the Camí de Cavalls between Binissafúller and Punta Prima is flat and has a low level of difficulty. Different route lengths and the described level of difficulty give the hiking day a clear structure without separating the coastal destinations from the route itself.
Stage 18 also passes a small fishing harbour in Binissafúller. In front of this harbour are old fishermen’s huts with whitewashed walls and turquoise doors.
Culture and history
The fishermen’s huts known as Caseta de vorera are arranged around a rocky promontory near Illots de Binissafúller and Sa Barca and were used for fishing.
The Talayotic settlement Poblado Talayótico de Binissafullet is a small settlement covering approximately 6,000 m. It preserves a Taula enclosure, several talayots, a hypostyle hall and several dwellings.
Poblado Talayótico de Binissafullet was used from the 10th century BC, particularly in the 4th and 3rd centuries BC; the settlement may have continued into the Muslim period. The central circular talayot has a diameter of 15 m and is 2.8 m high.
The eastern hypostyle hall preserves part of its roof, supported by three large pillars. The Taula enclosure was restored in 1992 and re-erected in its original location.
Punic amphorae and animal bones were found near a hearth during excavations. This finding points to a possible ritual in the 4th or 3rd century BC connected with animals and agriculture.
The protected area of Poblado Talayótico de Binissafullet was definitively delimited in 2004. Talaia de Binissafúller is one of the sites in the municipality of Sant Lluís designated as an asset of special cultural interest.
