Sant Carles De Peralta: Holiday Apartment and Ibiza’s Rural Culture
Sant Carles de Peralta is closely associated with the Church of Sant Carles. The village developed around the church, which was built at the end of the 18th century. The church has one of the most remarkable columned porticoes in rural Ibiza. Inside, there is an old-style confessional that probably dates from the 19th century. These details form part of the history and furnishings of the same church.
Culture
Ca n’Andreu des Trull also focuses on Ibiza’s rural and traditional way of life. A significant museum collection offers an insight into daily rural life through tools used in the countryside, traditional furniture and other everyday objects. At the same time, Ca n’Andreu des Trull preserves the traditional layout of an Ibicencan farmhouse. The site is also known as Ca n’Andreu des Puig and is an old “casament” documented since 1730. Thus, both the collection and the traditional layout, the name Ca n’Andreu des Puig and the documentation since 1730 remain connected with this historic site.
History
The Torre d’en Valls is a coastal defensive tower built in the second half of the 18th century to house artillery. It stands on a headland between Pou des Lleó and Cala Boix in the area of Sant Carles de Peralta. Its purpose, period of construction and location come together here in a single historic structure.
