A hiking route on the Camino de Santiago de la Costa towards Pico Paradiella passes through Villarín. On the descent, it runs through El Pueblu, Enribalaera and Villarín to Aucinera. The route “Pico Paradiella y Alto de las Cogruzas desde Villarín” begins in Villarín and leads via Pico Paradiella and Alto de las Cogruzas. It is 4.25 kilometres long and designed as an out-and-back route. Different route options, starting points and lengths can be compared separately when planning your day.

Hiking

The route from Arcallana to Pico Paradiella offers views of the coast and the mountain ranges inland in the southwest. It is considered fairly easy and runs entirely along tracks and good paths. It follows good paths almost throughout; there are no springs, so hikers should bring enough water. When planning, you can consider the condition of the paths, the views and water requirements separately.

The two hiking descriptions focus on different aspects: the 4.25-kilometre route from Villarín is explicitly designed as an out-and-back route and connects Pico Paradiella with Alto de las Cogruzas. The route from Arcallana adds coastal views and the mountain ranges inland in the southwest to its mountain setting. This allows the route format, landscape views and note about the lack of springs to be considered as separate features alongside one another. The different starting points are also among the details that can be taken into account when choosing a route.

Landscape

Pico Paradiella rises to 716 metres in the Sierra de Las Palancas above the municipalities of Cudillero and Valdés; its summit forms the geographical boundary between Cudillero and Valdés. The Palancas mountain is in the immediate vicinity of Villarín. An approximately 19.5-kilometre driving route leads from Cadavedo via Tablizo to the brañas of Gallinero de Arcallana and Busmarzo. In clear weather, Pico Paradiella can be seen from there.

A short out-and-back hike and a longer driving route represent different time and distance formats. Clear weather should be considered as a separate point when the view of Pico Paradiella is the main focus. The landscape references can be distinguished by summit, coastal views and mountain ranges inland.
