A precise introduction to Campiellos is the Ruta de Los Cabornos: the easy circular trail starts in Campiellos, is 1.7 kilometres long and takes about 45 minutes. At the end of the Ruta de Los Cabornos begins the Senda Accesible de Campiellos. It is about 680 metres long and adapted for people with reduced mobility. The Camín del Rebollal, also called the Senda Accesible de Campiellos, begins in the upper part of the village, follows the slope on an almost level path and passes through a small chestnut and oak forest. If you would like to compare different trail lengths and trail characteristics, you can consider the details separately when planning your day.

Trails and Orientation

At both ends, the Senda Accesible de Campiellos is signposted with Braille. It also has information boards about the flora and fauna of the surrounding area. It begins near the “Los Cabornos” restaurant, next to a parking space reserved for people with reduced mobility. At the Mirador de Campiellos there is an information board with Braille texts and drawings. When planning your own visit, you can assign different importance to the combination of trail length, route and information available.

Nature and Views

Campiellos lies halfway up the slope on the right bank of the Rioseco reservoir. The PR-AS 123 route to La Xamoca also begins in Campiellos. The PR-AS 123 route runs almost entirely through Redes Nature Park and Biosphere Reserve. The area also belongs to the Natura 2000 network and includes an SAC and an SPA. From the Mirador de Campiellos, views extend over Rioseco and its reservoir, the Cuyargayos heights, the Alba Valley and Soto de Agues. From the summit of La Xamoca, panoramic views open up over the Rioseco reservoir and the surrounding valleys. The landscape information can be distinguished according to location, viewpoint and summit perspective, without turning it into a single trail format.

Culture and History

Around Campiellos stand the Cabornos, old grafted chestnut trees; many specimens are several hundred years old. Campiellos preserves a rural ensemble of residential houses and agricultural buildings. This rural ensemble includes hórreos, stables, tenadas and washhouses. The Ermita de San Nicolás in Campiellos was founded in 1673. When exploring the area yourself, the villagescape, group of trees and architectural history can be considered separately.
