The Iglesia parroquial de Santa Marina, the parish church of Villamarín, is also located in the village. It was recently restored. Typologically, it appears to date from the 18th century, although it could also date from the 19th century.
A donation from 1217 transferred Villamarín, together with other properties, from Alfonso and Gonzalo Rodríguez to their brother Pedro, the abbot of Lapedo. In a document from 1151, Villamarín appears among the properties; Emperor Alfonso VII certified their confirmation together with his children Sancho, Fernando and Sancha.
The historical records therefore range from the documentary mention in 1151 to the donation of 1217. Together with the recently restored parish church, whose typological classification remains open between the 18th and 19th centuries, this provides a differentiated chronological understanding of the village's recorded history.
Religious Tradition
San Benito is celebrated in Villamarín on the third Sunday in September with a church service and a pilgrimage.
