The protected area Mŕtve rameno Čiernej vody, a section of the old riverbed of the Nitra, lies within the cadastral area of Úľany nad Žitavou. A burial ground of the Únětice culture from the Early Bronze Age was also discovered. The archaeological evidence from the Late Iron Age includes a settlement and a biritual burial ground.

A visible testimony to the town’s history is the church “Kostol sv. Martina biskupa”. It was built in 1781 as a late Baroque single-nave church. Inside is a historicist high altar from the second half of the 19th century. The building’s form and furnishings therefore originate from different periods.

Culture

The local events calendar includes the recurring Rezbárske sympózium, a wood-carving event in Úľany nad Žitavou. Visitors can watch a work of art being created from a tree trunk.
