In Mana, nature observation, cycling and walking routes, and cultural history come together. Žitavský luh preserves a significant remnant of the original meandering river course and covers the cadastral territory of Veľká Maňa. Every year, spotted crake and western marsh harrier breed there. During migration, the area serves primarily as an important resting and habitat area for garganey.

Nature

The Maniansky Park in the cadastral territory of Veľká Maňa is a protected historic park with the fourth level of protection.

Routes

The Žitavský luh educational trail is 3.6 kilometres long, takes approximately 1–1.5 hours, and has three stations. It can be accessed from Road No. 511 via the embankment and the Kmeťovo Bridge, as well as from Žitavce via the embankment. The designated route may be used exclusively on foot or by bicycle. Free movement is not permitted in the remaining parts of the protected area.

The cycling route 5104, classified as REKREA, leads from Veľká Maňa to Trávnica, is 7.8 kilometres long, and offers views of the Žitava Valley. Cycling route 8105 “Žitavský luh” runs from Maňa to the Žitavský luh Nature Reserve. It is an easy 5.1-kilometre route and is also suitable for beginners.

Culture

The Church of the Seven Sorrows of Mary in Veľká Maňa is a late Baroque building dating from 1756, which was remodelled in the Classicist style in the first half of the 19th century. The church contains an early Renaissance Madonna image from the 16th century. Beneath the building is a crypt containing the tomb of Baron Ján Malonyay and a son of Gejza Foldvári, the last owner of the Veľká Maňa estate.

Also in Veľká Maňa is the late Baroque manor house from 1741–1742, built by František Xaver Koller. The manor house is not open to the public because it houses a social services facility. The Požitavské Folklore Festival is a traditional, non-competitive presentation of children’s and adults’ folklore groups and ensembles, with more than 250 participants every year.

Getting There

Road II/511 runs through the Veľká Maňa district. The municipality of Maňa also has bus and train connections. The transport connections and designated routes therefore provide different public links to the natural and cultural sites, without equating the respective areas of the protected site with one another.

When reviewing holiday apartment offers for Maňa, visitors can compare the exact location, type of accommodation, and possible occupancy on the respective offer pages. They can also check the included services, individual price components, and booking and cancellation conditions. These fields describe only the respective offer and are not derived from the natural or cultural sites. This keeps the specific features, cost breakdown, and conditions of each offer separate from the destinations described.
