Pervouralsk: Europe–Asia and Industrial Heritage
Accommodation in Pervouralsk
Pervouralsk can be explored through two themes: Europe–Asia symbolism and the industrial history of the Urals. A geographical marker, an obelisk complex and museums bring these themes to life. When planning your trip, you can decide whether to focus on the Europe–Asia connection, industrial history or both.
Europe–Asia as a travel theme
Pervouralsk is included in the inclusive “Europe–Asia” tourist route between Yekaterinburg and Pervouralsk. Check the latest route information before your trip.
The “Europe–Asia” geographical marker is a traditional destination for newlyweds from Yekaterinburg and other cities in Sverdlovsk Oblast, business travellers and visitors to the city. The “Europe–Asia Obelisk” complex opened in 2008 at the foot of Berezovaya Mountain. Its description features a 25-metre-high pillar topped with a double-headed eagle.
Industrial history and art
At the Museum of the History of the Pervouralsk Pipe Plant, five exhibition halls cover the stages of the plant’s history; another hall is devoted to contemporary art. Plant employees, contemporary Ural artists, photographers and craftspeople exhibit their collections there. If you would like to combine industrial history and art, this museum brings both themes together under one roof.
The Museum of Mining and Industrial Civilization offers an interactive exploration of the history of Ural industry. This gives it a different focus from the accounts of the plant’s history and art collections at the Pipe Plant Museum: here, the industrial history of the Urals is presented interactively. Check current access arrangements before planning a visit.
The Innovation and Cultural Centre is also a stop on the inclusive “Europe–Asia” route. It has specially designated areas and rooms for wheelchair users and people with visual or hearing impairments. Check current accessibility arrangements before your trip.
Planning your stay
The Tourist Information Centre provides free information about events, tourist routes, attractions and accommodation in Pervouralsk and throughout Sverdlovsk Oblast. This can help you bring together questions about your local itinerary and getting around the wider region.
When looking for a holiday apartment, you can start with the itinerary you have in mind: should the Europe–Asia connection shape your visit, or would you rather focus on industrial and museum history? Base your choice on the themes you actually want to make central to your trip.
