A folk museum and traditional events give Koyanovo a cultural focus. The town’s history is also brought to life: in 2008, a memorial plaque in honour of Ismagil Tasimov was unveiled in Koyanovo.

Folk Museum and Events in Koyanovo

A folk museum is located in the Koyanovsky House of Culture in Koyanovo. The building also hosts several traditional events that take place regularly. This makes it possible to plan a cultural stay around both a museum and recurring events.

These events include Sabantuy, “Lyzhnya Koyanovo”, the “Tugan yagym monnary” festival, “Batyrskie zabavy” and “Kukushkin chai”. If one of them is the reason for your trip, check the specific event date in advance. The memorial plaque marks a different point in time: it was unveiled in 2008, while the events mentioned take place regularly.

If you choose Koyanovo for these cultural attractions, focus your holiday rental search on the town. Coordinating your stay with an event date is a separate planning step.

More Things to Do in Perm Krai

Perm Krai also offers nature, culture and activity options that can be considered independently of Koyanovo’s local character.

The Basegi Nature Reserve has an excursion route called “To the Summit of Northern Baseg”. It is 11 km long; including the guide and rest stops, the tour takes 5 to 8 hours. It starts at the checkpoint at the Schastlivy ranger station. Sections of the route run for 3,700 metres through taiga forest (the mountain forest zone) and for about 300 metres across mountain meadows. The excursion season runs from June to October. Check current arrangements directly with the reserve before planning. The same nature reserve also has an excursion route called “To Southern Baseg”.

The visitor centre offers another perspective on the nature reserve. It includes a small museum exhibition about the wildlife and plant life of Perm Krai. Environmental education discussions, lectures, quizzes and games featuring films or multimedia presentations are held there regularly. Alongside the longer excursion route, visitors can therefore explore an exhibition and recurring educational activities.

The Gubakha year-round resort is located on Mount Krestovaya in the city of Gubakha. Seven groomed pistes are open there, and there are also eleven slopes for freeriders. These offer a different regional activity focus from the excursion routes in the Basegi Nature Reserve.

The cultural attractions also vary across Perm Krai: Khokhlovka is the Urals’ first open-air architectural and ethnographic museum of wooden architecture. While Koyanovo offers a local cultural connection through its folk museum, recurring events and memorial plaque, Khokhlovka focuses on wooden architecture in an open-air museum setting.
