Berdsk Between Water, Nature and Culture
Accommodation in Berdsk
Berdsk lies on the shores of Berd Bay, part of the Ob Reservoir, and the Berd River. But the town is more than its waterside setting: protected nature, radio history, finds from within the town and a Glory Memorial offer different ways to get to know Berdsk. When planning a trip, you can decide whether you want to focus on natural sites, specific museum objects or named routes.
Water and protected nature
Two designated protected sites are located within Berdsk: the regional natural monument “Berdskaya Lesnaya Dacha” and the local protected area “Gorodskoy Park ‘Berdskaya Kosa’”. Their different classifications give you a specific starting point when choosing nature-related activities for your stay: Berdskaya Lesnaya Dacha is designated as being of regional significance, while Berdskaya Kosa is described as a local protected area. Together with the shores of Berd Bay and the Berd River, these offer distinct themes: waterways and protected areas. You can make a point of including the protected areas in your plans, rather than treating nature merely as a general backdrop.
Routes with different destinations
One route through Berdsk passes through the urban Shkolny Eco-Park and ends at the site of the military-tourism quest park “Berdskiy Avanpost” at 14A Morskaya Street. The route therefore names both a park along the way and a specific destination with an address. A memorial route in Berdsk, by contrast, leads to Victory Park, where the Glory Memorial stands. The routes differ in their explicitly named destinations: one is a military-tourism quest park, the other a memorial in a park. When choosing between these themes, you can decide whether to focus on the quest park or the memorial site.
Radio history and museum finds
The museums also offer different ways to explore the town’s history. The Berdsk Museum has a historical exhibition on the seventh floor of the former administrative building of the PO Vega radio works, featuring radio equipment manufactured by the works from 1947 until its last day of operation. The exhibition’s location in a former administrative building also makes the connection to the radio works tangible. The Berdsk Historical and Art Museum displays finds from within the town, including a silver mirror, old printed works and icons from Berdsk’s Sretenskaya Church, which was destroyed in the 1930s. This highlights two distinct cultural themes: technical products and their manufacture on the one hand, and artefacts from within the town, including religious items, on the other. Before visiting a museum, it is advisable to check current visiting arrangements.
Choose accommodation to suit your plans
Let your choice be guided by what you want to experience in Berdsk, rather than deciding based only on a general impression of the town. If the quest park is part of your plans, check its current visiting arrangements in advance as well.
