Noginsk brings together green spaces and urban and regional history. Volkhonka is a regionally significant historical and natural landmark within the city limits; parks and museums offer different ways to experience the landscape, collections and historic sites. When planning your trip, it’s worth choosing what you’d like to focus on: time in nature, exhibitions or a particular historic site.

Green Spaces with Distinctive Features

Volkhonka is a green area within Noginsk and a regionally significant historical and natural landmark. The arboretum traces its origins to a landscaped garden featuring unusual plants and foreign trees. Its beginnings as a designed garden give the site a cultural and historical dimension as well as its connection to nature.

The Glukhovo Culture and Recreation Park offers a different landscape: this expansive park lies on the banks of a pond, where trees of various species grow. At Central Park, by contrast, fairy tales and animated films take centre stage. The “Alleya skazok” (Fairy Tale Alley) features 38 figures, and the number grows every year. The parks therefore have clearly distinct features: the arboretum and garden origins of Volkhonka, the pond landscape at Glukhovo, and figures from familiar stories at Central Park.

City History, Collections and Exhibitions

The Noginsk Museum and Exhibition Centre presents the city’s history from the 14th century onwards and preserves around 14,000 exhibits. These include archaeological finds and documents, orders and medals from the Second World War, a small coin collection, and Russian and Western European paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries. The centre also regularly organises historical, artistic and arts-and-crafts exhibitions. Its collection and varied exhibition formats offer different ways to explore the city’s history and culture.

Another historic site is the “Bogorodsk” Post Station, a branch of the Noginsk Museum and Exhibition Centre. Its exhibition provides information about the station and the Vladimir Highway. According to some accounts, A. S. Pushkin stopped there and changed horses on his journeys to Boldino. The possible connection to Pushkin is one of the stories associated with the station, while the exhibition also explores the historic route.

The Morozov House and Visitor Information

The house museum of the A. I. Morozov family is located in Glukhovsky Park. The house was built for the family in 1908 to a design by architect A. V. Kuznetsov. In 2002, it was designated a regionally significant cultural heritage site. The collection comprises more than a thousand objects over 150 years old, including photographs, historical books and documents. While the Museum and Exhibition Centre covers Noginsk’s history and a wide range of collections, the house museum focuses on the Morozov family’s home and its collection.

There is one clear condition for visiting: the house museum can only be visited as part of a guided tour, and groups must include at least five people. Confirm these conditions before your visit. In the warm season, tea gatherings featuring merchants’ tea are held in the pavilion on the grounds. They include tea served from a samovar, pancakes, pretzels and jam. This seasonal activity offers a different focus from the house’s architecture and collection.

Choose the Right Focus for Your Stay

Noginsk’s attractions appeal to different interests: green spaces and an arboretum, a pond landscape, figures from fairy tales and animated films, or cultural history in museums and exhibitions.
