In Naro-Fominsky District, you’ll find options to suit a range of travel interests: historic churches, a local history museum with changing exhibitions, parks and leisure activities, and an unusual plywood railway exhibit. You can shape your trip around culture and history or around exercise, games and activities with animals. When choosing a holiday rental, it helps to decide on your main priorities first, then check the property’s specific location in relation to your chosen destinations.

Churches, Museums and History

The Church of St. Nicholas in the village of Kamenskoye is considered one of the oldest churches in Moscow Oblast and one of the first stone churches in the Principality of Moscow. According to scholars, it was built in the 14th century. The Church of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem in Vereya marks a different moment in history: it was built in 1677–1679 as a monastery cathedral. After the monastery was dissolved as part of the secularization reform of 1764, the church became a parish church.

Victory Park in Naro-Fominsk is also a memorial to military glory. In its central area, the “MiG-17 Aircraft” monument was erected in 1986 to honor airmen from Naro-Fominsk who died during the Second World War.

For a look at the city’s history, twelve short routes through Naro-Fominsk’s neighborhoods were presented in 2023. The planned tours were to cover the neighborhoods’ history, architecture, monuments and streets, as well as related events and people. These routes were presented at the time as a proposal, so don’t assume they are currently running without confirmation.

The Vereya Local History Museum has five halls. Two feature permanent exhibitions on the region’s history and ethnography and on the Second World War; the other three host temporary exhibitions. This means permanent themes and changing displays can be found side by side in the same museum. The museum also offers creative evenings, workshops and guided tours of the town and its churches. As the program may change, check current offerings with the museum in advance.

The “Metro na dache” museum offers a very different focus: it displays a scale model made of plywood of a carriage cabin of the “Ezh-3” type. This specific exhibit brings together its material, scale and named carriage type—a distinctive subject alongside church and regional history.

Park Paths, Puzzles and Leisure Activities

Dubki Park in Kalininets has walking and cycling paths, children’s playgrounds and play areas. Visitors can enjoy walks and bike rides as well as spend time in the play areas. Facilities may change over time, so check their current status before visiting.

In Aprelevka, Quest-Dancity Club offers two puzzle games: “Treasure Hunters: The Dead Man’s Chest” and “The Lost Expedition: The Pharaoh’s Amulet.” The games are designed for teams of two to eight people. Children aged six and older may take part when accompanied by an adult. When planning your visit, confirm that the games are currently available.

In the village of Novosumino, Few Horses Equestrian Club offers individual riding lessons, forest rides with a picnic break and farm tours. It’s best to check with the club in advance to confirm which arrangements are currently available. The offerings differ considerably: here, horses and the farm are the focus, while Quest-Dancity offers collaborative puzzle-solving for teams of a set size.

The Lukomorye family leisure park in Afineevo offers a range of other activities: you can fish, rent a gazebo, barbecue or cook your catch over a campfire, go horseback riding and interact with the animals on site. The facilities also include football, volleyball and tennis courts, a shooting range and trampolines. During the warm season, sun loungers and pedal boats are available on the pond. Activities and facilities may change; check current conditions before visiting.

Choose the Right Priorities for Your Holiday Rental

Whether you prefer churches, exhibitions and memorial sites or park paths, puzzle games and activities with animals, these destinations offer a range of ways to shape your trip. Consider which ones matter most to you and use them to guide your holiday rental search. Then check the routes from the specific property to your chosen places; place names alone aren’t enough to determine distances. If you’re traveling with children, options include the playgrounds at Dubki Park and the puzzle games at Quest-Dancity, where children aged six and older can take part when accompanied by an adult.
