In Myaglovo, a musical ecological route combines nature themes with a memorial. It opened in August 2025 as Russia’s first musical ecological route. The 2.2-kilometre trail begins at a recreation centre and leads to the memorial to the women lumberjacks. It commemorates their contribution during the Great Patriotic War.

Nature Sounds, Art and History in Myaglovo

A report dated 19 August 2025 describes bird, animal and nature sounds along the route. Interactive features explain, among other things, which clouds foretell rain, and make natural phenomena such as thunder audible. The report also mentions an open-air art gallery, ecological installations and an insectarium with live insects. There is a photo spot on the shore of Lake Lesnoye.

Different themes come together here: you can listen to nature, information about clouds draws attention to weather phenomena, and the gallery and installations complement nature motifs with art. For people travelling together, this offers different things to discover and discuss. Allow time for the 2.2-kilometre route in your day’s plans, and check access and trail conditions before your visit.

Nature and Culture in Leningrad Oblast

For a broader look at Leningrad Oblast as a destination, Veps Forest Nature Park offers a distinct nature experience. It lies in the far east of the oblast and encompasses seven reserves with especially strict conservation rules. The park is characterised by numerous lakes; the largest is Lake Lerinskoye, in the reserve of the same name. Old spruce and pine forests have been preserved in the “Vepsskiy les” and “Ashchozyorskiy” reserves. They are important for numerous organisms that depend on forests undisturbed by commercial use.

Brown bears are relatively numerous in the nature park; the wolverine, which is extremely rare in the region, has also been recorded. A sighting is not guaranteed. The Veps, a small people of Russia with their own culture and traditions, have traditionally lived in the park. Lakes, protected forests, wildlife and Veps culture offer different perspectives on Leningrad Oblast.

Another Cultural Perspective

Koporye Fortress is one of the cultural attractions in Leningrad Oblast. It is a museum and a monument of Old Russian stone architecture. Its present form dates back to the 16th century, while parts of the masonry are from the 13th century. The museum describes a self-guided visit using the “Koporskaya krepost 2.0” multimedia guide; confirm its availability when planning your visit. Due to the critical condition of the structure, visitors are not allowed to climb the walls or towers.

Different Trails in Leningrad Oblast

Ecological trails in Leningrad Oblast offer further nature experiences. At the Toksovskie vysoty natural monument, a circular trail crosses sandy hills and the hollows between them, as well as old spruce and pine forests. In the “Gryada Vyaryamyanselka” protected area in Priozersk District, an ecological cycling trail passes through a landscape of lakes, bogs and dry, old-growth pine forest. The route descriptions date from 2019; check current trail conditions before travelling.

When looking for a holiday rental in Myaglovo, consider whether the sound trail is your main destination or whether you are planning a broader trip through Leningrad Oblast. Choose accommodation based on the places that actually feature in your plans.
