Atamanovo lies on the banks of the Yenisei, which provides a clear geographical reference point for the village. When looking for a holiday rental, it helps to decide early: do you want to focus on Atamanovo itself, or are you planning your stay around another destination within the broader Krasnoyarsk Krai travel region? If you want to focus on the region, it is best to choose accommodation with your particular destination in mind, rather than automatically assuming Atamanovo will serve as a shared base.

Local area and access in Atamanovo

The Museum of the Village of Atamanovo’s Military and Labour Glory, a local history museum, is located at Atamanovo School. If you would like to visit the museum, check in advance whether visits are possible and when.

Krasnoyarsk Krai: nature through the seasons

The «Ergaki» Nature Park, of regional significance, lies in the south of the broader Krasnoyarsk Krai travel region. In summer, visitors can hike and take horseback tours there. In winter, its snow-covered slopes attract skiers and snowboarders, as well as people taking snowmobile tours and snowshoe hikes. The changing seasons therefore also shift the focus of possible activities.

The Putoransky Nature Reserve is defined by a different landscape: it includes the Putorana Plateau, with table mountains 1,000 to 1,500 metres above sea level, canyon-like basins of tectonic lakes and numerous waterfalls. Tours in the Putoransky Nature Reserve can be organised in both winter and summer. Ski expeditions are offered in winter; in summer, options include hiking and river trips. Routes range from difficulty category two to six. The time of year and the kind of outing you want are therefore both important guides when choosing a route.

Krasnoyarsk Krai: cultural history and routes

The Historical and Ethnographic Museum-Reserve «Shushenskoye» is located in the village of the same name. It depicts a Siberian village in the Russian Empire in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Its many wooden architectural monuments include peasant houses, a merchant’s shop, a forge and a prison-fort. The grounds contain a total of 194 monuments of rural architecture. In 2011, the architectural and ethnographic complex «Novaya Derevnya», with a natural and landscape park, also opened there. The museum-reserve’s programmes present the traditions and customs of bygone eras and offer insights into peasant life: visitors can sample peasant dishes, learn the basics of traditional crafts, and discover games, customs and celebrations.

The «Krasnoyarskie Stolby» National Park offers a different kind of nature experience. At the eastern entrance, a granite quarry forms the well-known stone amphitheatre. From there, visitors can see the Takmak rock massif, one of the largest in the national park. In practically any weather, the rocks Ermak, Kitayskaya Stenka, Maly Berkut and Storozhevoy, as well as the Vorobushki rock group, are also accessible from the eastern entrance. The main routes at the eastern entrance are marked; a tour can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a full day. A mobile app makes it easier to find your way. The route to Takmak rock and back is listed as approximately four kilometres and three hours.

Getting to the eastern entrance can also be planned in detail: Bus No. 37 runs to the «Stolby (Vostochny Vkhod)» stop. From there, an approximately one-kilometre access road leads to the entrance over an unpaved road. As bus services may change, check the details locally before travelling.
