In Bogotolsky District, protected forest plantations and attractions in individual villages offer a variety of discoveries. The history of Siberian forestry is particularly prominent: nature monuments preserve plantations from the late 19th century. Other highlights include a suspension bridge, springs, chapels, and a tractor monument. When planning your holiday, a useful starting point is to ask: Are you more interested in forestry history and nature monuments, or in the villages’ attractions?

Forest Plantations and Protected Nature Monuments

A 1,500-metre-long larch avenue was officially designated a protected nature monument on January 16, 1991. It covers 1.7 hectares and lies on the northern slope of the Arga Ridge, in the riverside strip along the Chulym River. Its location is assigned to compartments 6 and 7 of the Gremyachensky district of the Bogotol Forestry Administration. Its length, area, and protected status give the avenue a special place among the district’s nature monuments.

Other nature monuments preserve forest plantations established in two consecutive years. The larch and pine plantations established in 1887 are located in compartment 6 of the Gremyachensky district. The nature monument “Larch and Pine Plantations (1887 plantings)” covers 0.9 hectares. The pine plantations established in 1886 in the same compartment form a separate nature monument: “Pine Plantations (1886 plantings)” covers 2.4 hectares.

Both forest-plantation nature monuments are considered early examples of Siberian forestry. A regional forestry school created them in the late 19th century to mark the visit of Tsarevich Nikolai, the future Emperor Nicholas II. The planting years, 1886 and 1887, help distinguish the two protected sites; together, they also tell the story of an early period in the history of forestry in Siberia.

Attractions in the Villages

The village attractions offer a range of different highlights. In Aleksandrovka, a pedestrian suspension bridge over the Chulym is one of the attractions in Bogotolsky District. In Krasny Zavod, there is the holy spring of Fyodor of Tomsk. Bogotolsky Zavod is associated with the Chapel of the Icon of the Kazan Mother of God, Kritovo with the “ChTZ” tractor monument, and Vagino with the “Melnichny” spring. In Yuryevka, a chapel in honour of the holy martyr Tatiana is one of the attractions. River crossings, springs, religious landmarks, and a technical monument thus offer a variety of themes.

In the protected natural areas covered here, leaving rubbish, lighting fires, or burning dry grass is prohibited. Signs must not be damaged, and trees must not be felled. Keep these rules in mind when visiting the protected nature monuments.

The Wider Landscape of Krasnoyarsk Krai

In Krasnoyarsk Krai, the Arga wildlife refuge, established in 1963, includes the Arga mountain range and a section of the Chulym River floodplain. This continuous landscape complex provides habitat for wild animals. It covers a total area of 89,885 hectares, of which 25,200.7 hectares lie in Achinsk District. This describes the wider regional landscape, not Bogotolsky District alone.

Choose the Right Holiday Focus

If you are looking for a holiday rental in Bogotolsky District, your preferred holiday theme can be a helpful starting point. The forest plantations appeal to those interested in protected nature and forestry history, while the village attractions offer their own, very different highlights. For example, if you are travelling with children, you could compare the planting years 1886 and 1887 and talk together about which themes spark the most curiosity. This lets you tailor your search to your interests instead of reducing the district to a single holiday image.
