Kabardinka: Gardens, Architecture and Art
Accommodation in Kabardinka
Architecture, collections and landscaped gardens are among Kabardinka’s distinctive themes. «Stary Park» brings these interests together with seasonal floral displays. «Kastalskaya Kupel» and «Dom Vverkh Dnom» offer different highlights: one features fishing in a lake, while the other has an unusual interior. When choosing your holiday apartment, it helps to first consider which of these experiences you would like to shape your stay most.
Architecture and seasonal garden displays at «Stary Park»
The «Stary Park» architectural and park complex comprises 40 architectural features, ranging from small-scale forms to larger structures. These include the House of Arts, the Old Park Theatre and the «Dom Vostoka» Museum. The range therefore extends from smaller design elements to standalone buildings. In the botanical garden, nature is combined with landscape design. The ponds at «Stary Park» add their own seasonal highlights with flowers.
In summer, the ponds bloom with rare varieties of water lilies and double lotus flowers from the collections of Russian collectors. In spring, the park features tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, Japanese camellias and sakura. If you are making the plant life a focus of your trip, you can also distinguish these details by season: the water lilies and lotus flowers are specifically a summer feature, while the spring blooms listed here belong to a different season.
Art and collections at the House of Arts
Opened in 2020, the House of Arts covers 2,000 m² and houses a museum of Orthodox culture as well as an art gallery. The gallery displays more than 2,000 works by Russian artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. The contemporary art gallery features works by local artists such as L. Lyakh, G. Arakelyan and Yu. Luchkina, as well as acclaimed artists from across Russia, including M. Antokolsky and A. Golubkina. The House’s collection also comprises 240 sculptural representations from the 16th to the 19th centuries, assembled in the northern regions of Russia. The «Stary Park» collection is stated to contain more than 5,000 exhibits.
The exhibition «Nepostizhimaya Rossiya» offers a different selection: its hundreds of exhibits include a manuscript by Mikhail Lermontov and everyday objects. Literary heritage and everyday objects thus provide two different perspectives within the exhibition. The «Stary Park» cultural offerings also include a creative school.
The Old Park Theatre has a 150-seat chamber music hall built on the model of ancient examples. Its design adds another architectural example to the collections and exhibitions. So if you are especially interested in architecture and art when planning your trip, «Stary Park» offers a range of themes that are not limited to a single collection.
Nature and unusual experiences
The «Kastalskaya Kupel» cultural and leisure centre is located in Kabardinka at the foot of the Markotkh Range, within the territory of the «Mozhzhevelovoye Redkolesye» natural monument. Visitors can fish for golden trout or sturgeon in a lake and then have their catch cooked over an open fire. Here, a specific activity is linked to the location at the foot of the range and within the natural monument. This focus sets it apart from the architectural and collection themes of «Stary Park».
At «Dom Vverkh Dnom», furnishings are arranged above visitors’ heads. This upside-down interior can affect one’s sense of spatial orientation. It makes the house a different kind of experience from viewing paintings, sculptural representations or gardens. If you enjoy a variety of impressions, you can weigh these themes against one another when planning your time in Kabardinka.
