Mezhdurechenskiy offers different ways to shape your day around your interests and the season: at Victory Park, remembrance and summer performances come together, while a carp sculpture adds a local touch to the central square. The promenade, stadium and ski base offer further opportunities for exercise and recreation. As you plan your trip, you can consider whether you want to focus on culture, outdoor activities or winter sports.

Culture and local highlights

Victory Park opened in 2020 to mark the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. In summer, a brass band plays by the fountain; poets and writers also present their works to visitors in the park. If you would like to plan your visit around these seasonal performances, it is worth checking the specific dates. Walking paths and benches offer further reasons to spend time in the park.

The central square is home to the bronze sculpture «Karas», shaped like a fish. According to a local custom, rubbing the carp’s tail on the sculpture brings good luck. There are two recreation areas and a flower bed beside the figure. The carp motif and the custom associated with it give the square a distinctive local touch, while the nearby areas provide places to linger.

Outdoor and winter recreation

At the «Akh, Konda – naberezhnaya nashego budushchego» waterfront promenade, you’ll find outdoor fitness equipment and a designated bicycle parking area. Its amenities also include a rotunda, a pergola with benches and swings, and twelve sun loungers. The promenade thus brings together opportunities for exercise and places to sit or lie down.

Yunost Stadium welcomes residents and visitors. It has a football pitch with artificial turf, spectator stands, a running track, a streetball and basketball court, and a pull-up bar area. If you’re considering sports facilities while planning your trip, the stadium offers a different focus from the promenade, with various playing surfaces and a running track.

In winter, the ski base in Mezhdurechenskiy offers winter equipment rentals and services for winter sports. The seasonal focuses therefore differ clearly: in summer, performances by the fountain are part of the park’s cultural scene, while the ski base provides a winter offering for residents and visitors.

More to explore in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug

Other places in the wider destination of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug also offer natural and cultural attractions. The Samarovsky Chugas Nature Park in Khanty-Mansiysk protects particularly valuable natural areas, rare plants and animals, pristine forests, and unique landscapes at the confluence of the Ob and Irtysh rivers. One of its aims is also to create conditions for organized recreation and environmental education. Nature conservation and recreation are two sides of the same regional theme here.

The collections of the Museum of Nature and Man in Khanty-Mansiysk include more than 100,000 records of Yugra’s history and culture. The city’s Museum of Geology, Oil and Gas displays minerals, materials related to geological exploration, paleontological finds from the region, and equipment used by geologists and oil workers. Together, the collections offer different insights into the region’s nature, history and work.

At the Torum Maa open-air museum, an educational excursion follows a hunting trail and covers hunting tools used by Indigenous peoples. In Surgut, a monument commemorates the city’s founders: the bronze group consists of four figures—Prince Fyodor Boryatinsky, voivode Vladimir Onichkov, a Cossack carpenter, and an unnamed priest. The nature park, museums, excursion and monument showcase different regional themes without taking the place of Mezhdurechenskiy’s cultural and recreational attractions.
