A 4.98-kilometre access road leads to Dimitrovo. As road conditions can change, check the latest situation before setting off. When looking for a holiday rental, it is worth first deciding what kind of trip you want: should Dimitrovo itself be the main focus, or would you like to shape your stay around different themes across Kemerovo Oblast? The examples below show how varied the region’s culture, landscapes and activities can be.

Culture and history in Kemerovo Oblast

Maryevka and Ishim are located in the wider region. In the village of Maryevka, Nazarkina Hill is home to a literary memorial museum and the estate of V. D. Fyodorov. The poet who lived there was a recipient of the State Prizes of the RSFSR and the USSR. In Ishim, the ruins of the Church of the Image of Jesus Christ Not Made by Hands are an architectural monument and the village’s landmark. Maryevka evokes literary heritage, while Ishim represents the history of religious architecture.

In Novokuznetsk, the Kuznetsk Fortress offers another way to explore history. It is a federal monument to history, military engineering and architecture. The fortress has a permanent archaeological exhibition on the region’s early history, as well as halls for temporary exhibitions.

The Tomskaya Pisanitsa Museum Reserve is a cultural monument of federal significance and one of the best-known and most important rock-art sites in Western Siberia. Its landscape includes 156 hectares of pine forest on the scenic banks of the Tom River. Since the first years of its existence, the museum reserve has also hosted historical, ethnographic and folklore events and festivals.

At the Shorskiy ulus Kezek complex near Tomskaya Pisanitsa, the homestead of a wealthy Shor has been reconstructed; the buildings are original structures dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At the Selskiy Dvorik petting zoo, visitors can feed domestic goats, sheep, rabbits, chickens, geese and ducks. This combines cultural and historical insights with a hands-on look at the farm’s animals.

Nature and activities in Kemerovo Oblast

The Shorsky National Park lies in the southern part of Kemerovo Oblast. Visitors can go rafting on mountain rivers, take motorboat trips and hike along ecological trails. Seasonal operating rules may vary; check the current park rules before making plans. The Srednyaya Mrassu rafting route runs from Ust-Kabyrza to Ust-Anzas. Depending on the weather, it takes at least three days; it is rated Category I and is accessible to all age groups. Check current route conditions before setting off as well. The Verkhnyaya Mrassu route includes small rapids and riffles rated Categories I and II. Water conditions and the duration of this route depend on participants’ experience and the river level. The routes can therefore be distinguished by their stated characteristics, without assuming a fixed duration for both.

Sheregesh offers a different landscape perspective: its ski runs range from 350 to 3,800 metres in length. The ecological trails feature three land-art installations, a dancing forest, “living stones,” block fields and the ancient Verblyudy rocks. These rock pinnacles are located on the slope of Mount Kurgan. The resort management describes information video guides installed along the trails, featuring interviews with Professor Nikolai Skalon, who talks about local attractions. Check local conditions before setting out.
