Lakeshore, history and remembrance

Lazurnyy lies on the shore of Lake Sugoyak. This gives the settlement a clear connection to its landscape; at the same time, a monument to fallen soldiers and the spruce-lined Alley of Remembrance are part of its character. Its history reaches back to the village of Lykovo: in the 18th and 19th centuries, it stood on the site of present-day Lazurnyy and belonged to the Miass Fortress.

The lakeshore, local history and culture of remembrance each offer a different perspective. Lazurnyy may therefore be of particular interest when looking for a holiday rental if you would like to include a lakeside location with a historical connection in your travel plans.

A glimpse of Chelyabinsk Oblast

The wider destination of Chelyabinsk Oblast offers a broader regional context. The oblast is known as the “Land of 3,000 Lakes”; the geographical boundary between Europe and Asia also runs through the region. The oblast is home to three national parks.

Taganay National Park lies in the western part of Chelyabinsk Oblast, in the Taganay mountain massif in the Southern Urals. Its landscape includes rocky peaks, stone rivers, mountain streams, taiga and tundra. “Black Rock,” at 853 metres, is one of the northern peaks of the Nasminsky Ridge and is made of white quartzite.

The “All of Taganay in 600 Steps” ecological trail is just over 1.5 kilometres long. It passes through scenic areas of the “Black Rock” area and natural settings typical of Taganay National Park. The trail has a paved surface and an observation platform, and is accessible to wheelchair users. As one of the park’s easier excursion routes, it is suitable for people of all ages and requires no special physical preparation. After the excursion, the group has free time for photography. Check the current conditions before your visit.

The Zyuratkul National Park lies in the highest part of the oblast. The easy ecological trail to the Zyuratkul Ridge is six kilometres long one way and climbs 460 metres; children can also manage it. The Malaya Medvezhya Trail starts in the settlement of Zyuratkul and is five kilometres long. Conditions along this route may vary. Check the current conditions for the route before setting out on a hike.

More regional nature and culture

A monument on the shore of Lake Chebarkul commemorates the meteorite impact. Through an opening in the stone marker, you can see a buoy marking the impact site. Poteshnaya Fortress contains a chapel dedicated to Saint Prince Peter and Princess Fevronia of Murom. These places add different forms of remembrance and religious history to the oblast’s natural landscape.
