The experiences described in Konoshsky District range from a village room filled with everyday history to railway exhibitions, dinosaur figures and suspension bridges. In Norinskaya, museums offer insights into rural life and a reconstructed house interior; in Konosha, the history of the Northern Railway and a dinosaur park are also on offer. Suspension bridges over the Vel are a sight to see in the Khmelniki group of villages. When planning a trip, you can first consider whether you are more interested in historical exhibitions or in distinctive figures and bridges.

Village History and Home Life in Norinskaya

The literary and social history exhibition “The History of the Village of Norinskaya” at the Konoshsky District Local History Museum presents the furnishings of a traditional village house. On display are old household items, objects from village life in the 1950s and 1960s, and documents and photographs depicting the lives of rural residents. The exhibition combines a look at the furnishings of a home with artifacts from everyday rural life. Visits during the warmer months must be arranged in advance.

The Brodsky House Museum opened in 2015 in the Pesterev family home in Norinskaya. In the summer room’s memorial room, the furnishings from 1964–1965 have been reconstructed based on friends’ recollections; the winter room contains the homeowners’ room. The hayloft is also used as an exhibition space. The museum offers an introductory tour. Arrange your visit in advance if you plan to take this tour.

Railway History and Dinosaur Figures in Konosha

The Konoshsky District Local History Museum in Konosha features the permanent exhibition “Railway – The Lifeline of Konoshsky District.” Documents and working railway exhibits explore the history of the Northern Railway and Konosha railway station. This offers a different way to explore local history than the household and everyday-life objects in Norinskaya: here, the railway and station take center stage.

The dinosaur park in Konosha features sculptures of a Tyrannosaurus, a Coelophysis and a pterosaur. There are 13 figures in total, most of them located in the recreation park. The specific dinosaur figures and their arrangement give the visit a different focus from the museums: instead of home life or railway history, the spotlight is on depictions of prehistoric animals.

Suspension Bridges over the Vel

The suspension bridges in the Khmelniki group of villages also tell the story of a practical need. Residents built them in the 1970s to connect villages on opposite banks of the Vel River. Today, the bridges are a sight to see in Konoshsky District. Their construction history explains why they were built: to create a connection between the villages. For travelers, this offers a different perspective on the area than its exhibitions and sculptures.

Choose a Thematic Focus for Your Accommodation

When choosing a holiday apartment or house, you can first decide what you would like to focus on: village and house history in Norinskaya, railway history and dinosaur figures in Konosha, or the suspension bridges in the Khmelniki area. This lets you start with the specific experiences you are looking for in Konoshsky District.
