Culture and Architecture
The Reformed Church stands in Dumbrăvița’s central park. It is a Neo-Gothic building that was consecrated in 1901. In addition to religious services, it hosts liturgical concerts and classical music concerts.
The Orthodox Church of “Sfântul Vasile” was built between 1996 and 2005. Ruga is a traditional celebration of the entire community associated with the patronal feast of this Orthodox church in Dumbrăvița; it takes place at Pentecost.
The Roman Catholic Church is considered representative because of its architecture. There are only two churches with such architecture in Romania.
The Dumbrăvița Cultural Centre was completed in 2021. It has a large hall with 800 seats as well as several smaller rooms for artistic and club activities. The Sala Polivalentă has around 500 seats and a retractable grandstand and hosts sport dance competitions.
Events and Traditions
Dumbrăvița hosts the national Hungarian folk song competition “Őszirózsa”. The competition aims to preserve Hungarian folk songs by discovering and promoting young talent; every year, children from 17 counties who have won their respective county-level rounds take part.
The “Zilele Dumbrăviței” celebrates the founding of the settlement with workshops, games, concerts and street food in the central park.
The “Fărșangul Dumbrăvițean” reached its 21st edition and included a stage programme with music and theatrical scenes organised by the Hungarian community.
The Festivalul Tocăniței is a traditional gastronomic event for Dumbrăvița held in the central park and accompanied by guests from partner municipalities.
The “Sâmbăta Prietenilor” event centred on a cooking-over-a-cauldron competition open to everyone.
Dumbrăvița’s events calendar includes cycling competitions from May to September. There is a cycle path on Ion Creangă Street.
On 13 December 2025, the official Liga 2 match between CSC Dumbrăvița and CSM Slatina took place at the “Ștefan Dobay” Stadium.
Dumbrăvița Retention Basin
The Dumbrăvița retention basin is the only standing surface water body within the municipality of Dumbrăvița. It is located on the Behela stream in the north-east of the settlement, covers 13 hectares, was created in 2009 and is fed by this stream.
The basin serves to attenuate flood waves and for recreational fishing.
Fishing requires a currently paid membership fee, a membership card confirmed for the current year, and a fishing licence issued in the angler’s name. The fishing licence must be issued by A.N.P.A. and provided by A.J.V.P.S. Timiș; fishing takes place from the shore.
