Geographical Setting
Comuna Gura Vitioarei is located in the sub-Carpathian zone of the Teleajen Valley. The area is characterized by hilly terrain; in the eastern part, the Teleajen River and the Tasica Stream cross the municipality.
The most important access route to Comuna Gura Vitioarei is the DN1A national road. It connects the municipality with the tourist spa resorts of Slănic Prahova and Cheia, as well as with the Mănăstirea Suzana Monastery.

Culture and History
Near Gura Vitioarei lies the Dacian fortification of Movila. It dates from the La Tène period, from the 2nd century BC to the 1st century AD. The archaeological site covers 40,000 m² and is located on the summit of a prominent, densely forested, cone-shaped hill on the left bank of the Teleajen, at the mouth of the Danciu Valley.
The Parohia Gura Vitioarei organizes cultural and religious activities, including excursions and pilgrimages. The Biserica Ortodoxă Bordenii Mici, the Biserica Sfinţii Arhangheli and the Parohia Ţintea are located in the wider regional surroundings of Comuna Gura Vitioarei.
In the village of Făgetu, the Hanul Roșu was built in the 17th century. It served as a horse-changing station for stagecoaches crossing the Bratocea Pass between the two Romanian principalities. The Conacul Cireșanu, built in 1910, also stands in Făgetu and reflects the architecture of the early 20th century.
The Moșia Brâncovenilor estate in the village of Fundeni belonged to the Brâncoveanu family. The Biserica Fundeni dates from 1800, is now a ruin and continues to be regarded as an important monument. Tablets with Cyrillic inscriptions were found at the Biserica Fundeni; the historian Nicolae Iorga translated them.

The Teleajen River crosses Comuna Gura Vitioarei; the landscape offers opportunities for hiking and relaxation in nature.
Poiana Cazacu is a large meadow approximately 2 km before the entrance to Gura Vitioarei. It is suitable for picnics and for viewing the sub-Carpathian landscape.
Izvorul lui Burebista near Coada Malului is located close to Gura Vitioarei, is considered a popular stopping point for tourists, offers fresh water and serves as a starting point for easy hikes.
