Răstolița: Hiking Trails, Nature and Holiday Apartments

In Răstolița stands the wooden church “Sfântul Nicolae” in the village of Răstolița, Răstolița Municipality. It is listed as a historic monument under code MS-II-m-A-15756, dates from 1750 and was rebuilt in the 19th century. In its present form, the wooden church dates from the late 18th century; the building has a rectangular floor plan and a three-sided polygonal apse facing east.

The Răstolița–Plaiul Ulmului–Poiana Compii–Valea Vișa–Răstolița circular hiking trail is 15 km long and moderately difficult; it offers a beautiful view from Poiana Compii. The Răstolița–Valea Iodului–Poiana Borta–Poiana Belciu–Poiana Iodului–Poiana Ursu–Valea Rusu–Răstolița circular hiking trail is 26 km long, moderately difficult and offers views of the Călimani Ridge.
The Răstolița–Valea Iodului–Poiana Borta–Creasta Listeș–Drumul Listeș–Răstolița circular hiking trail is 12 km long; it is difficult in the ridge area and includes a 4 m-long rocky passage. The shorter Răstolița–Podul Borzia–Santinela Borzia–Răstolița circular trail is 5 km long and easy; at Santinela Borzia, it includes an easy climbing section.
The Răstolița–Valea Tihu–Șaua Tihului–Pietrosul–Negoiul Unguresc–Șaua Negoiului–Valea Ilvei–Lunca Bradului route covers 19 km plus 20 km of forest road and includes a 16 km-long ridge section. The Răstolița–Bistra Mureșului–Creasta Scaunului–Scaunul Domnului–Poiana Mijloc–Valea Gălăoaia Mică–Gălăoaia–Răstolița route is 26 km long, including 11 km on the road, and is moderately difficult.
On the 12 km route, the 4 m-long rocky passage is located in the ridge area. The shorter loop leads to Santinela Borzia and includes an easy climbing section there. On the route to Lunca Bradului, the stated 19 km cover the trail itself, supplemented by 20 km of forest road and a 16 km-long ridge section. On the loop via Scaunul Domnului, 11 km of the 26 km are on the road.
Nature
Răstolița Municipality is part of Călimani National Park. Scaunul Domnului is considered a special attraction for Răstolița Municipality. The protected Defileul Mureșului Superior Nature Park extends across the municipalities of Stânceni, Lunca Bradului, Răstolița and Deda in the northeastern part of Mureș County.
Several landscape areas therefore meet in Răstolița: Călimani National Park belongs to the municipality, while the protected Defileul Mureșului Superior Nature Park extends across four municipalities in the northeastern part of Mureș County. Scaunul Domnului is mentioned as a special attraction for Răstolița.
Water and Cycling
During a stay in Răstolița, visitors can fish for trout, grayling or huchen in the mountain waters. Rafting Mureș organizes daily rafting tours for groups of 2 to 8 people on the Mureș River between Stânceni and Răstolița.
Cycling tourism is practiced around Răstolița. Rafting competitions are held on the Mureș River in the Răstolița area, especially in spring.
