Culture
The Centrul Cultural „Nicăpetre“ was founded in 2001 to present the work of the sculptor Nicăpetre donated to the Muzeul Brăilei „Carol I“. Following renovation, it reopened to the public on 12 November 2010.
The Casa Memorială „Panait Istrati“ is located in a gardener’s house built in the Neo-Romanian style at the beginning of the 20th century. Since 1984, it has housed the „Panait Istrati“ memorial exhibition, which displays manuscripts, personal belongings, furniture, signed books, rare editions and documentary photographs.
The Muzeul Brăilei „Carol I“ was founded in 1881 by royal decree. It comprises departments for archaeology, natural sciences, ethnography and folk art, as well as fine and decorative arts.
The theatre in Brăila has an auditorium decorated in the Italian style with 369 seats and a studio theatre space. Its foyers can be used for concerts, meetings and events.
Măxineni Monastery was founded in 1636–1637 by the Wallachian prince Matei Basarab and is considered one of the most important historical landmarks in Brăila County.
The Casa Memorială „Fănuș Neagu“ is located in the writer’s birthplace in the commune of Grădiștea and was converted into a museum in 2011. It has a biographical-bibliographical and photo-documentary section with portraits, books, personal belongings, writing implements, medals and diplomas, as well as an ethnographic section with household items, tools, carpets and typical interior elements of a peasant house from the Bărăgan.

Balta Mică a Brăilei lies along one of the most important bird migration corridors in the lower Danube basin; 207 bird species have been recorded there. The Balta Mică a Brăilei Nature Park has 15 tourist routes by water and land. Within the nature park, Lacul Chiriloaia is an observation point for rare bird species. The nature park can only be accessed by water, by boat via one of the Danube’s branches.
Zoo Eco Brăila is committed to protecting and preserving endangered species. It showcases recreated habitats ranging from lush forests to deserts.
Lacul Sărat contains therapeutic mud with a very high degree of mineralisation. The spa resort of Lacu Sărat is described as a green oasis with beneficial effects on the human body. The „Sfântul Pantelimon“ Monastery, founded in 1996, is located in the spa resort of Lacu Sărat.

At the Festivalul Peștelui, held from 19 to 22 September at Faleza Dunării, carp in brine, fish soup, fish plachie and fish burgers were prepared under the guidance of chef Horia Vârlan.
