Culture and History

The „Ioan Slavici și Emil Monția“ Memorial Museum is housed in the historic Bohus Castle, a building erected in the Baroque style in 1838. Its permanent exhibition on Ioan Slavici comprises three rooms with family photographs, diplomas, awards, medals, manuscripts, books and newspapers. The collection thus combines personal memories with public and literary records of his life. The castle combines the architectural history of 1838 with the museum presentation of literary and personal records. Due to renovation work, the „Ioan Slavici și Emil Monția“ Memorial Museum is closed. In 2025, the municipality's staff supported the operation and administration of the Muzeul Satului in Șiria.

The sculpture ensemble in Șiria depicts several personalities from the locality as well as important figures from Romanian culture. At the center of the ensemble is the statue of Baroness Bohus Szogyeny Antonia, created in 1910. The depiction thus combines local names with figures from Romania's broader cultural context.

The Feredeu Hermitage Monastery dates back to the 18th century, lies below the summit of Izvorul Rece and is situated at an altitude of 427 meters. The Feredeu monastery complex in the territory of the municipality of Șiria comprises a monastery in the valley and a hermitage monastery on the western slope of the Zărand Mountains. The Feredeu Hermitage Monastery can be reached either via the modernized road leading up the steep slope of the Zărand Mountains or via a tourist trail marked in yellow. The complex therefore comprises a site in the valley and a higher-altitude hermitage on the western slope, whose location is further specified by the Izvorul Rece summit.

Events

The Festivalul Emil Monția took place for the fifth time in 2025 as part of the cultural program of the municipality of Șiria. The Zilele Șiriei took place for the 18th time in 2025. The Christmas market on Sfânta-Maria Square in Șiria took place for the fourth time in 2025.

The Festivalul Iei took place on June 24, 2024, at the Cetatea Șiriei.

Nature and Trails

The Șiria Winter Trail includes races over 6 km, 15 km and 24 km. The Șiria Winter Trail is a sporting competition for amateurs and professionals that uses tourist trails in the Zărand Mountains in the localities of Șoimoș and Șiria. The three advertised distances range from 6 km to 24 km and are part of the same competition in the Zărand Mountains.

The 15-km route of the Șiria Winter Trail follows marked tourist trails from Șiria towards Șaua Cazan, to Feredeu Monastery, to the Monumentul Turistului and back to Șiria.

Geographical Location

The Păuliș–Ghioroc–Covăsânț–Șiria route is one of the one-day tourism routes in Arad County. The wine-growing region of the Arad Wine Route stretches from Lipova to Ineu via Păuliș, Ghioroc, Covăsânț, Șiria and Pâncota.
