Waterside setting and traces of the past

The former hillfort site at Bogaczewo lies on Jezioro Boczne, near Kanał Kula, on a small rise. There is a former Protestant cemetery on the hillfort; in the literature, the site is referred to as “Ringberg” (Okrągła Góra). Its location, elevated position and name give this part of the village a distinctive historical character. An archaeological find is another facet of Bogaczewo: a silver garment pin of Gallic origin, decorated with cell enamel, was found here.

A community event connects the village with the municipal beach and adjacent sports field: the Bogaczewiada was held there for the 14th time and was described as one of the largest family picnics in the Giżycko municipality. The two venues give the event a specific local setting and complement the water-related and historical themes with a community aspect.

Routes with different distance figures

The municipal heritage conservation programme for 2024–2027 lists several routes connected with Bogaczewo. The 69-kilometre red cycling route from Giżycko to Święta Lipka runs through Wilkasy, Bogaczewo, Gorazdowo, Staropole, Monetki, Stara Rudówka, Ryn, Knis, Salpik, Nakomiady, Owczarnia, Kwidzyna, Gierłoż and Kętrzyn.

The green cycling route from Giżycko via Bogaczewo and Kanał Kula to Rydzewo, Przykop, Miłki, Lipińskie, Szczepanki and Wydminy is listed as 41 kilometres long. An additional section via Sołtmany, Żywki, Kruklin and Grądy Kruklaneckie adds a further 20 kilometres. The figures clearly distinguish the additional section from the 41-kilometre route.

The 32-kilometre Niegocińska Route is listed as a separate route. It runs from Giżycko through Bystry, Ruda, Rydzewo, Bogaczewo, Strzelce and Wilkasy, returning to Giżycko. The distances therefore provide a basis for comparing route lengths; the Niegocińska Route remains a distinct route name, separate from the connections explicitly described as cycling routes.
