Under the name Korycizna Kaliszańska, the place was a small settlement in the late 19th century: it consisted of one house with four residents; by 1895, there were nine wooden houses and 35 residents there.
The area encompassing Korycizna is forested and lies on the boundary between the Opatów Upland and the Iłża Upland. Its landscape features include loess hills, ravines and exposed limestone formations.
The limestone outcrops in this area contain pieces of striped flint.
