In the municipality of Gaszowice, a variety of travel ideas come together: night orienteering events were announced for 2026, and a municipal cycling project described in 2017 combined the ride with local history and outdoor games. Nearby, in Czernica, there is also a neo-Gothic palace and a cultural centre. The range of themes thus extends from active exploration to architectural history and local cultural work.

Night orienteering in the municipality

“Gaszowice po ćmoku” was announced for 2026 as a series of three night orienteering events. The dates given were 18 June, 23 July and 17 September. Participants were to find checkpoints on maps that would be handed out before the start; the course was planned to be about five kilometres long and to run through the municipality of Gaszowice and its surroundings. Its distinctive feature is the combination of travelling at night, map reading and targeted searching. The approximate distance gives a sense of the scope, while finding the checkpoints is the task at the heart of these planned events. This format therefore differs in focus from a cycling tour that takes in several municipal attractions. Bear in mind the distinction between the town of Gaszowice and the municipality: the route was planned to cover the municipal area and its surroundings.

Cycling, local history and outdoor games

A municipal project described in 2017 linked municipal sites with a cycling tour through the municipality of Gaszowice. The options mentioned included repairing bicycles, learning about the history of individual places from information boards, and taking part in outdoor games. For active travellers, the appeal lies in more than cycling alone: the boards connect the tour with local history, while the outdoor games offer a different focus. The project thus brings together physical activity, local history and outdoor play as distinct aspects of an outing.

Palace and cultural centre in Czernica

In the vicinity of the destination, in Czernica, stands a neo-Gothic palace. Czernica is a separate locality within the municipality of Gaszowice, not the town of Gaszowice itself. The palace was built between 1880 and 1885 by the Roth family. It houses a cultural centre run by Stowarzyszenie Działań Lokalnych „Spichlerz“. The centre organises cultural activities and events, including performances and history picnics, and fosters local intangible cultural heritage. Neo-Gothic architecture revisits Gothic forms in later architecture, distinguishing it from the medieval origins of those forms.

Choose the right focus for your trip

When looking for a holiday apartment, it helps to consider whether you would prefer to focus your trip on active exploration in the municipality or on cultural history nearby. The orienteering events and cycling project offer different experiences; at the palace, architectural history meets a cultural centre with local activities. You can therefore choose accommodation based on the experiences that matter to you during your stay.
