Discover nature: the museum, Goruszka and the park

The Museum of Marine and Inland Fauna and Flora in Jaworze features, among other things, a sea turtle, sharks including a hammerhead shark, octopuses, molluscs and sea urchins. Its collection ranges from large marine animals to smaller sea creatures. For nature enthusiasts, this offers a distinct focus alongside the town’s wooded landscapes.

Goruszka is a wooded hill in the Cieszyn Foothills, rising to 411 m. Black pines grow in its forest; they were introduced in the 19th century by the then owners of Jaworze, the Counts Saint-Genois d’Anneaucourt. The only continuous stand of this pine species in the Silesian Beskids is located there. At Goruszka, a distinctive natural feature meets a history that reaches back to the town’s former owners.

Following its renovation, Zdrojowy Park now has five wooden boardwalks and viewing points. They offer new perspectives on the park. Visitors interested in designed parkland can include this as a stop in its own right alongside the museum and forest.

Parkland and traces of history

A palace and park complex dating from the late 18th century forms the main part of Jaworze’s spatial layout. Its arrangement includes a lower manor farm in the northeastern part and an upper manor farm set further north. The overall layout is relatively symmetrical. This description makes the two manor farms and their position in relation to each other a distinctive way to explore the town’s history.

Goruszka is also home to the Glorieta, a Baroque feature of the parkland. Its round roof is supported by six Neoclassical columns. The combination of its Baroque classification and Neoclassical columns makes the Glorieta a striking architectural detail.

In Jaworze-Nałęże, a reconstructed glassworks stands on the site of a former 19th-century glassworks. It is important to distinguish the reconstructed complex from the former glassworks: the historical connection lies in the former site, while the glassworks there has been reconstructed.

Jaworze’s Protestant cemetery can also be explored through specific historic memorial sites. An information board guides visitors through eleven important memorial points within the cemetery. For travellers interested in local remembrance, this offers a different perspective on Jaworze from its nature spots and parkland.

On foot towards Błatnia

The route from Jaworze-Nałęże to Błatnia begins in Nałęże. The starting point is accessible by PKS bus or by car. There is a car park behind the renovated church; from there, you can set off on foot for Błatnia.

Another named hiking trail is the Szlak szklany. It starts in Jaworze-Nałęże and leads to Ranczo Błatnia. This gives hikers two specific options: the route described from Nałęże to Błatnia, and the Szlak szklany, which starts in Jaworze-Nałęże. These route descriptions do not include distances or walking times; for your planning, you can begin by referring to their respective starting points and destinations.
