The Sułkowski Dukes’ Castle is the oldest and largest historic building in the historic city of Bielsko-Biała. For more than two centuries, it served as one of the residences of the Piast Dukes of Cieszyn. The market square reveals another part of the city’s history: within the medieval street plan are townhouses dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.

At the Weaver’s House, the history of cloth-making comes to life in a specific residential and working environment. It is located in Górne Przedmieście, which has existed since the first half of the 15th century and was inhabited by cloth-makers from Bielsko. The permanent exhibition recreates the home and workshop of a master craftsman in the cloth-makers’ guild. After many years of conservation and reconstruction work, the Weaver’s House opened to visitors in 1992.

The cityscape also reflects its industrial history. The Stara Fabryka Museum is housed in the buildings of a former cloth and wool factory, which had been operating since 1887. In 2006, the museum was included in the Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship. The Polish Theatre building was constructed in 1890 and has a restored, richly decorated interior. Together, these places offer different ways to explore the past, from craftsmanship and factory history to urban architecture and theatre design.

Mountain Trails, Views and Mountain Biking

Bielsko-Biała has 16 mountain hiking trails, with a total length of 81 kilometres. If you prefer mountain biking, Enduro Trails Bielsko-Biała offers a network of uphill or one-way singletrack trails. The routes have varying levels of difficulty, from easy descents to technically demanding downhill trails. The blue flow trails Rock'N'Rolla and Twister are more than 11 kilometres long combined. At Szyndzielnia, the cable car travels a distance of 1,810 metres. Next to its upper station is an observation tower with an 18-metre-high platform and a telescope offering 25× magnification. These specific height and distance figures help you plan this outing. The Dębowiec Centre offers a 610-metre ski slope; it also includes a nature trail with six information boards. These places offer different activities and complement the hiking and cycling options with a winter activity and a nature-focused experience.
