Dobiegniew is a town in western Poland, in the Lubusz Voivodeship and Strzelce-Drezdenko County; at the same time, the town is the seat of the urban-rural municipality of Dobiegniew.

Culture and History

The town walls of Dobiegniew were built in the first half of the 14th century on the site of earlier timber-and-earth fortifications.

A former district court building in Dobiegniew dates from 1910 to 1915 and is now used as the municipal office.

The first written mention of Dobiegniew dates from 1250; in the second half of the 13th century, the settlement was transformed into a regularly planned town.

Strzelce-Drezdenko County lies in the northeastern part of the Lubusz Voivodeship along the Noteć and Drawa rivers. The county has cycling, hiking and water trails; kayaking is organised along the Drawa and Noteć. There are also rental services for water sports equipment, bicycles and kayaks in the county.
