Długie – Holiday between Lakes and Forest

Długie lies on an isthmus between Lakes Dołgie and Lipie. Water shapes the town just as much as the wooded moraine hills surrounding it. Lakes and wooded hills

The landscape around Długie is shaped by high moraine hills covered with mixed and pine forests. Lake Lipie near Długie lies within a protected landscape area established in the Drawa Heath. Its shores alternate between steep slopes and numerous bays. The lake is therefore not just a stretch of water, but also a varied feature of the surrounding landscape.

On the southern shore of Lake Lipie, you’ll find a bathing area, a bathing jetty and a 1.1-hectare sandy beach. Diving is another experience on Lake Lipie: a diving centre on the lake is visited by divers during the summer season. Divers found a 16th-century axe there at a depth of 40 metres. Waterways, cycling and hiking

The “Lubuskie Mazury” waterway begins in Długie on Lake Lipie. From there, it crosses the isthmus to Lake Słowa and continues along a canal to Lake Osiek. Another waterway takes in the Dobiegniew Lake District: at the beginning of the 21st century, its neglected canals were made navigable again, creating a 75 km waterway with information boards and maps.

You can also explore the lake district from different perspectives on foot or by bicycle. The 27.5 km “Poznański szlak” cycling route runs from Strzelce Kraj. to Długie and passes the shores of smaller and larger bodies of water. The blue “Zaczarowanych Panien z Burgwall” hiking trail is 12.5 km long, starts in Długie and loops around Lakes Lipie, Słowa and Kokno. Manor park and historical traces

Długie Manor Park covers 11 hectares. One of its defining features is an avenue of lime and horse chestnut trees. The manor’s barn also tells the story of the town’s architectural history: built in the 1820s in the Neoclassical style, it retains the original design of its front façade.

Northwest of Długie, on the isthmus between Lakes Lipie and Słowa, stands a castle hill. It is thought to be the site of an earlier fortification; in the Middle Ages, it was home to a castle belonging to the von Bornstedt family.
