Wojcieszów brings together remarkable nature and distinctive historical landmarks. The Góra Miłek Nature Reserve, with its limestone massif shaped by karst features, lies within the town limits. The town is also home to a parish church with Gothic art, three small palaces and the woodland ruins of an inn. When choosing where to spend your holiday, you can consider whether you want your stay to focus on nature, culture or both.

The Góra Miłek natural area

The massif of the Góra Miłek Nature Reserve consists of Cambrian limestone and crystalline dolomite. Several peaks and numerous karst features shape this geological natural area. The reserve protects forest communities growing on limestone soils, including species-rich Sudetic beech forests and thermophilous orchid beech forests. The protected area lies within the town limits of Wojcieszów. If nature and woodland landscapes are a particular focus when planning your holiday, this gives you a specific way to explore the area.

Another route passes a distinctive natural feature: on the route from Wojcieszów via Radzimowice and Mysłów to Płonina, you can see the woodland of the Góra Miłek Nature Reserve. This route description offers a different way to experience the forest from the blue hiking trail, which starts in Wojcieszów. You can take your interests in nature and outdoor activities into account when planning your trip without treating the two routes as the same.

Church art and historic buildings

The parish church, “kościół parafialny pw. Wniebowzięcia Najświętszej Marii Panny,” dates from the 13th century. Its notable works of art include a high-quality Gothic Madonna and Child and a group of full-length tomb slabs from the 16th and 17th centuries. This offers culture enthusiasts several distinct points of interest: the medieval church, the Gothic depiction and the tomb slabs from two later centuries. The artworks and their historical periods give Wojcieszów’s cultural heritage a distinctive character.

A very different historical feature is “Ruiny szubienicy,” the brick ruins of an inn from the first half of the 17th century. Located in the forest, it takes the form of a tower with stone pillars. It is considered a remarkable regional building and is the largest and best-preserved structure of its kind in Silesia. Its unusual combination of a woodland setting, tower form and history clearly sets it apart from the sacred artworks in the parish church.

Walking trail and palaces

The blue hiking trail “SZLAK NIEBIESKI” starts in Wojcieszów, at the intersection of Chrobrego and Górnicza streets. The blue hiking trail is described as an easy walking route. If you are considering including a walk in your plans, this description is a useful guide when choosing activities. It distinguishes the trail as a described walking route from the route via Radzimowice, Mysłów and Płonina, where you can see the woodland of Góra Miłek.

Wojcieszów also has three small palaces. You can view them from the outside; viewing the interiors is possible by arrangement with the owner. This is important if you want to include the palaces in your trip plans: no arrangement is mentioned for viewing the exterior, but one is needed to see the interiors. This lets you distinguish the palaces in your cultural itinerary from the historical artworks in the parish church.
