Osiek is a place in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, in Olkusz County and within the municipality of Olkusz.

The place name Osiek is recorded in historical forms such as Ossek, Hosszek and Osyek and is interpreted as a cultural name associated with a forest fortification built from tree trunks.

Osiek was connected with the Rabsztyn starosty for a long period and was subordinate to the parish in Przeginia.

Osiek was first documented by Jan Długosz in the years 1470–1480; the place already existed in the 14th century.
