Puszczykowo can be explored from several angles: pre-war villas and historic buildings feature along several themed trails, museums focus on Polish motoring and Arkady Fiedler’s travels, and cycling and walking routes lead through the town or towards Mosina. A church with a remarkable architectural and artistic history is another local point of interest. When planning your trip, it helps to decide first whether architecture, collections, cycling or time by the water should be the main focus.

Villas, Trails and Local History

“Perły architektury Puszczykowa” (Gems of Puszczykowo’s Architecture) focuses on the town’s architecture: the trail showcases pre-war villas and architecturally interesting guesthouses. The Szlak Letniska offers a different perspective on history. It leads along quiet streets in Puszczykowo, where historic buildings recall the town’s past. The green Arkady Fiedler Trail, in turn, is confined to the town. The three trails have distinct themes: architecture, historic streetscapes and a local route.

The Church of Matki Boskiej Wniebowziętej (Our Lady of the Assumption) also offers tangible connections to local history. It was built between 1923 and 1928. The main altar features a sculpture of the Assumption of Mary, created in 1936 by Czesław Woźniak; a painting of the Madonna and Child by Władysław Roguski can be seen at the side altar. The railway station is another historic landmark: it was expanded in 1910 because trips to Puszczykowo were very popular at the time. This date describes historical development, not current rail services.

Museums: Travel and Motoring

The Arkady Fiedler Museum has been housed since 1974 in a villa built in 1926 in the style of a Polish manor house. The museum’s collection includes memorabilia and trophies from the travels of Arkady Fiedler, a writer and traveller, and his sons. The Garden of Cultures and Tolerance lies around the museum. It features a Sun Gate from Bolivia, an Aztec calendar and a statue from Easter Island. The museum brings together travel memorabilia and exhibits connected with different parts of the world.

The Polish Motoring Museum has a different focus: it preserves and presents the heritage of Polish motoring. Its exhibits include motorcycles, historic cars and technical products that have shaped this history. The extensive vehicle collection includes every motorcycle produced in Poland after the war, as well as most pre-war models. Visitors interested in technology and automotive history will find a clearly defined subject here; Fiedler’s collection and garden, by contrast, focus on travel and diverse cultures.

Cycling, Walking and Time by the Water

The Łącznikowy Szlak Rowerowy (Connector Cycling Trail) runs from Poznań through Luboń and Puszczykowo to the market square in Mosina. It also connects the town with a section of the Pierścień Rowerowy Dookoła Poznania (Cycling Ring Around Poznań). This makes Puszczykowo part of a named cycling route linking several towns along a longer course. When planning, you can consider whether a route connecting towns or one confined to Puszczykowo better suits your travel interests.

For walks, consider the green Arkady Fiedler Trail and the Szlak Letniska, with its quiet streets and historic buildings. Zakole Warty is another destination for outings, family walks and picnics. The vegetation-covered riverbank offers easy access to the water. This gives you a choice between routes through the town and an outing by the water.

A Local Meeting Place on Warm Weekends

A local landmark is also the ice cream shop owned by the Kostusiak family. It has been open for 60 years, attracts many visitors on warm weekends and is a destination for motorcycle and cycling trips. The ice cream shop thus connects a specific place with the excursion themes also found along the cycling routes.
