Mosina – Nature, Cycling Routes and Culture

Mosina combines green spaces for recreation with an established town centre and cultural discoveries. At the Glinianki, you can swim and relax; for a different focus, there are cycling routes, historic buildings and art. Glinianki and the landscape

The Glinianki are flooded former clay pits that now form a green recreational area. Swimming and relaxation are among the things you can enjoy there. A signposted footpath leads from the car park to the observation tower. Information boards cover Ice Age landforms as well as the local fauna and flora. The path and boards give a visit a distinct connection to nature: you can combine the views with insights into the landscape and its plant and animal life.

Two larger landscape areas also extend to the edge of Mosina: Wielkopolski Park Narodowy and Rogaliński Park Krajobrazowy. In the vicinity of Mosina, Wielkopolski Park Narodowy has 18 areas under strict protection. Cycling and discoveries in town

The Łącznikowy Szlak Rowerowy runs from Poznań via Luboń and Puszczykowo to Mosina’s market square. It connects the town with a section of the Pierścienia Rowerowego Dookoła Poznania. Further afield in the region, part of this cycling route runs along the Warta River; some sections follow county and local roads. If cycling is part of your travel plans, the route provides a direct connection between Mosina and the places mentioned, without implying that the different sections are all the same.

In the town itself, it is worth looking at the preserved medieval layout: a square market place lies at the centre, with narrow streets leading off it. A tourist quest titled “Mosina w XIX wieku” was created by pupils from Primary School No. 2 in Mosina. It offers a distinct historical perspective alongside the townscape. Local legend traces the origins of the “Elegant z Mosiny” to local tailoring workshops.

Church, gallery and town history

The Church of St Nicholas was built in 1952–1954 on the foundations of an earlier stone church, which had been built in 1905. Its modern interior features polychrome decoration by Ewa Buczyńska and Walenty Gabrysiak, as well as stained-glass windows by Edmund Hałas. The building’s history and artistic design offer two different perspectives on it.

The Galeria Sztuki is housed in a historic building that was formerly a Jewish synagogue, built around 1876. It exhibits painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, textiles, installations, new media and animated film. In the same building, the Galeria Historyczna, also known as Galeria na Piętrze, periodically holds historical exhibitions about Ziemia Mosińska, as well as photography and art exhibitions. Another striking building is Obrabad: the brick building with a tall tower can be seen from the Mosiński Canal. On 24 May, the mural “Tam, gdzie ptaki śpiewają…” was unveiled on the wall of the town hall.

The year-round tourist information point is located in the Gminne Centrum Informacji (GCI), ul. Dworcowa 3, first floor. It is open Mondays from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and Tuesdays to Fridays from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. There you can find information about regional attractions, as well as brochures, flyers and maps.
