Suldalsosen lies on Route 13 by Suldalsvatnet. The village is situated on a flat valley floor, surrounded by forest and high mountains. The lake and mountain scenery frame the landscape; at 1,105 metres above sea level, Vinjanuten is the highest mountain around Suldalsosen. When choosing a holiday apartment, consider whether the valley, the mountains or activities on the water should be the main focus of your stay.

Valley, lake and trails around Suldalsosen

The Suldalslågen stretches for 22 kilometres from Suldalsvatnet to the Sandsfjord. From Suldalsosen, there are hiking opportunities along the river. A hike to Stråpanuten also starts in Suldalsosen. From the summit, the view extends across the Suldalslågen and the village to the valley below at Førland—a panorama that brings together the river, settlement and valley.

Route 6A also offers a specific point of reference for planning: it follows a wide gravel road. Check local trail conditions before setting out.

At the Vassapparat in Suldalsosen, children and adults can try out the power of water. Various dams make it possible to regulate the flow. The installation is located by the Statkraft offices in Suldalsosen, right beside Vinjar School. There is good parking on the site; check the current parking situation before your visit.

Church and protected areas of the village

Suldal Church, built in 1852, is one kilometre west of Suldalsosen. A statement by the Rogaland County Governor dated 29 September 2022 describes it as a long church based on the architect Hans Ditlev Franciscus von Linstow’s standard designs and notes its listing by the Directorate for Cultural Heritage as a building worthy of protection and of national significance.

Two areas in Gamle Osen in Suldalsosen are protected under Suldal’s cultural heritage plan. Check the current planning status in the municipal planning register. This helps distinguish the village’s historical context from its current planning status without making the visit dependent on access that has not been confirmed.
